![]() Arguably, the action in Quantum of Solace the mobile game is far, far easier to follow compared to the movie - there's no shaky cam nonsense bogging the mobile game down - and it's easier to follow the story on the mobile because it's all spelled out in plain English. Unfortunately the game simply isn't fun and those action sequences are so easy to follow they're simply boring - there seems to be very little variety in the weapons in-game so you'll typically just have to fire constantly. The game also relies on lengthy breaks between checkpoints and trial and error gameplay to extend its already noticeably short game time - the thrilling boat chase scene from the movie instead involves the successful timing of reloads of your machine gun, and timing incorrectly usually results in the player starting from the beginning of the level again. While we'd arguably like to have seen something a little more substantial out of Quantum of Solace on the mobile it's hard to say it's bad... It's just not great. The fact that you are able to clearly follow the storyline might make this a worthwhile purchase alone, if only to find out why Bond does the things he does in the movie.

![]() It's not the perfect mobile game, but it does avoid the usual hassles inherent with creating an action game on the platform by eliminating the clutter. Primarily using a combination of the outer number keys (or the dpad) and the five/Ok key you'll find it quite easy to start your African adventure. The challenge then comes in the slight puzzle elements the game throws in - the sneaking missions, or the driving segments. On top of the excellent combat, the game has some excellent story elements and a rewards system which we really dug. Your choices don't really change the world but they do give you an interesting perspective on how it affects the world - you work for evil men and the things you do have a far reaching effect. You'll occassionally question whether you even want to do a mission, as you know it will effect people poorly. There was a mission in which we had to destroy a village's water supply to damage the other faction in the world - it hurt the villagers more than the other faction. The game lets you purchase items and weapons with the diamonds you receive as a reward for your villainy - which in turn introduces some different tactics into how you approach the gameplay. The Sniper Rifle is by far the best weapon, but we found the pistol to be the best weapon - and the cheapest. Far Cry 2 is a great time waster, with short, sharp missions and fantastic visuals. The autoaim feature robbed the game of some of it's death, but it might be a neccessary evil when playing the shooter genre on the mobile platform.

![]() At $7 this game is good value You own your city from regularly building towers, but this game requires patience.

![]() Unfortunately it's too difficult to actually do any tricks - as a result you'll find yourself only really doing the really basic moves over and over again. We experimented and found we were actually able to win a level by doing nothing but the Indy grab (jump and press the jump button again) over and over again. The graphics are pretty good which is a shame, because the entire game is hampered by the patently unfun control system. With a functional way to actually do tricks Amped could have been good - decent character options, sound and the above average graphics all work in its favour. Until developers work out a reliable way to make controls on mobile games work we think they should stick more basic fields - classic puzzle and casual games. If you are the type of person who can SMS faster than they can type on a keyboard, Amped might be worth the time. If you're one of us regular human beings Amped blows a fuse early on.

![]() It is very challenging but has bad graphics and once you can't go any further you quit playing it. There are better versions of pac-man. At $7 I'd say it's a bit expensive, not providing much value

![]() The game's story is pretty simple, but it's fun and the gameplay matches it perfectly. As you roll around the world painting everything you see you'll come across Inkt agents you must fight as well as the peaceful inhabitants of your land. Probably the only issue I have with the game is that on occasion these two different characters look a little too similar, and if you're pressed for time while trying to get 100% of the block you're on coloured you can sometimes hastily run into an Inkt agent by accident. De Blob is pretty long as well - it's excellent value for money. You have about At the end of the day De Blob is a well-balanced, easy to control mobile game. It's easy to start and stop a game and immediately pick up where you left off - an essential for portable gaming. It could use a little more polish, but at the end of the day it's a fun game worth your money.

![]() Star Wars: The Force Unleashed does away with the challenging battles, minor rpg elements and - of course - the stellar physics engine. It gets rid of the fast-paced action, the shiny graphics and the simple, yet easy to learn controls. It also waters down the Star Wars story, the lightsaber battles and it puts the Force back on its leash. In fact, THQ Wireless appears to have spent so much time watering down and removing features from Star Wars: The Force Unleashed that they decided to eliminate even moving your character. Instead of you taking Darth Vader's apprentice throughout the Star Wars universe assassinating Jedis, you stand in the centre of the screen and draw objects to activate attacks as enemies attack you. To draw objects you use the numpad on your phone - from a simple line all the way up to complex shapes and stars. The drawing method is actually very intuitive, and it works quickly - implemented in the way that it has been however robs the tie-in of everything the console game is about. It's unfortunate, because as a game it's not that SWTFU isn't fun. Nevertheless, punters expecting a Star Wars experience will be very disappointed - it's not what you might expect. Once you get over the lack of a Star Wars connection you're left with a decent drawing game. Things can get pretty hectic as you go through the game, but you'll eventually be a numpad-drawing pro... If you can stick it out long enough. On a different game this system would definitely work well - even combined with more traditional action game elements it would be worthwhile - something like the Nintendo DS game Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin. Be warned if you're expecting a Star Wars game however - you are definitely in for a surprise.
