Talk about your A grade game crossovers. Far Cry 2 Mobile is not only a great mobile version of Ubisoft's blockbuster Far Cry 2, it's a great game overall. It combines fantastic graphics, simple and effective controls and some excellent RPG-Lite qualities to create a very worthwhile purchase.

It's not the perfect mobile game, but it does avoid the usual hassles inherent with creating an action game on the platform by eliminating the clutter. Primarily using a combination of the outer number keys (or the dpad) and the five/Ok key you'll find it quite easy to start your African adventure. The challenge then comes in the slight puzzle elements the game throws in - the sneaking missions, or the driving segments.

On top of the excellent combat, the game has some excellent story elements and a rewards system which we really dug. Your choices don't really change the world but they do give you an interesting perspective on how it affects the world - you work for evil men and the things you do have a far reaching effect. You'll occassionally question whether you even want to do a mission, as you know it will effect people poorly. There was a mission in which we had to destroy a village's water supply to damage the other faction in the world - it hurt the villagers more than the other faction.

The game lets you purchase items and weapons with the diamonds you receive as a reward for your villainy - which in turn introduces some different tactics into how you approach the gameplay. The Sniper Rifle is by far the best weapon, but we found the pistol to be the best weapon - and the cheapest.

Far Cry 2 is a great time waster, with short, sharp missions and fantastic visuals. The autoaim feature robbed the game of some of it's death, but it might be a neccessary evil when playing the shooter genre on the mobile platform.
