Game resources are an essential asset in Natural Selection. There are limited resource points/nodes (or towers, abbreviated as RT) which when built upon by your team, provide additional resources per tick for yourself (if you are playing aliens, each member receives an equal amount of resources per update tick) or the commanders resources are incremented with every tick. Resource towers may be build upon resource nozzles/vents, which are small holes in the ground with white steam emitting from them. A tick is the amount of time between resource updates (the amount you receive is proportional to the amount of resource nodes your team holds) and it is around five to ten seconds per update. Resources allow you to build defenses and structures and change life form as (aliens) or if you are on the marine team, the commander can upgrade your weapon levels and deploy advanced technology for you to use such as heavy machine guns and phase gates. It is therefore important for your team to have as many resource points as possible, as you may do more, faster, and ultimately overtake the opposing team. Listen to your commander

When on the marine team, its important for you to listen to your commanding player (denoted by the 'Commander' status on the score list, and the name on the top of your screen). The commander has a full RTS style view of the game and is in charge of overseeing the marine team. Suggestions on what the commander should do next are great, but try and work towards what the commanding player wants as the team will work more efficiently and in the end you will have a lot more fun when things go well! |
