The GameArena Counter-Strike 1.6 Beginner and Intermediate Ladders have now been put into Freeplay Mode.
This means you can challenge anybody you wish through the Ladder System, but your ranking will not change.
Do not forget that you now require The Arena to access GameArena Ladder and Bookable Servers.
Windows users can download The Arena right here. Linux and Macintosh versions are also available.

Counter-Strike: Source Ladder Opens

To kick the new year off we thought we'd fire up a ladder for what is now the largest game on GameArena, and only released in November last year! Counter-Strike: Source updates the world's most popular online multiplayer game with Half-Life 2-powered graphics while retaining the maps and gameplay that made the franchise so popular.
The rules for this ladder will (at this stage) remain exactly the same as the current Counter-Strike ladder; remaining in freeplay we'll look at how the change in engine affects overall gameplay and may make some changes accordingly. The ladder moves straight into freeplay to give us a chance to work out the kinks, and over the next few weeks we'll be looking at integrating some of the other unique features to our GameCreate ladder system, such as dynamic game recording, and integrated statistics.
To sign up for this ladder head on over to the Counter-Strike: Source game page right here.
Counter-Strike: Source Update

A massive update for Counter-Strike: Source has been released, fixing a number of bugs in the game and in the Source engine. Check out this post on the Steam website for the full list of changes. One of the biggest new additions is the inclusion of the updated version of de_prodigy.
Update: After several hours of waiting for Steam to start working again we finally gave up and ran Steam on a remote server in Japan, and then manually copied the files over. The servers are now up and running again and all should be fine! We've set server #10 to run only de_prodigy for users that just want to check out the new map.
