Firstly, I must admit it - I am a cheapskate when it comes to games! I have never bought one. Therefore, I only play demoes and free games.
Now that that's sorted out - I love America's Army. It is the most realistic game I have played - both in the action and in the graphics. From the reloading of your weapons to the sounds of the ground you tread on to the vehicles you can drive - America's Army has an atmosphere that makes you feel like you are a soldier. The wide variety of maps is superb, and the fact you are playing against human opponents makes it extremely realistic. Since the opposition is someone sitting at another computer, they don't do ridiculous things like the artificial intelligence can in other games. They are out to get you, and you better be quick with your aim!
I also love the way America's Army is played. You are always on the American side, and your opposition are rendered as terrorists. That means both sides are filled out reasonably equally in the multiplayer maps.
The only downside is the quality of the graphics are so good, it doesn't work that well on lower end systems because you can't lower the video settings enough (well, this is what I have found anyway). But saying that, I can't say enough about how good this game is!
If you are like me and like free games, may I recommend also the Battlefield 1942 series - the demoes are very good, and although this series has been called the "Comic version of WWII", it has some excellent gameplay.
If anyone has any other suggestions for free games they love add them on following reviews...I would love to check them out...

I love this game. Playing since 1.0b came out (a week after release was the first patch lol) and I never gave up. A friend at same time said "this looks crap I won't play this" and I said "no give it time! It will be great in a few years.."
Then version 1.6 onwards it mostly was really good.
Nowadays there are custom maps, loads of servers, endless hoardes of noobs and a few really good old players
Unfortunately a lot of players have left for either MMOs or COD4 etc.. but with the upcoming release of America's Army 3.0 it should hopefully revitalise the community and get some old players back to check out the new graphics.
Since 2002 this game has in my opinion been the best option for realistic FPS MP.
I still regard Operation Flashpoint above it, but due to lack of players of that game, and the free nature of AA and the fact of its endless support, AA wins out.
9.7/10

This game is a lot of fun, really well made, the fact of having to complete training before going out to get slaughtered is great, means any idiots will know what to do and what the buttons are.
It pretty much covers realism pretty well, with only taking a couple of shots to be staring at the ground.
Over all it's an awesome game, great realism, fun and addictive
The only bad thing is that the training is easy, the basic marksmanship left me with 40/40 and a top mark in every other Drill

The games is very addictive, but can be repetitive, but with future versions this will change. maps are different but some are varients. large maps are not often played, but with new version, hummers will be introduced making it more interesting

Outstanding FPS game. If you want to play as a member of a team, it's excellent.
If you want to go on a killing spree with no aim in life. Good Luck.

An amazing game, great focus on team play and camarederie between player ingame and in the forums. I took an instant shining to it's flowing gameplay and easy to learn commands as well as the interesting and involving way the game progresses from the moment you start basic training.

Great game for tactical team play..... definitely not for lone ranger types, especially in wars.
Training makes the game very interesting, no n00bs stacking of sniper rifles, or going as SF class.

Love it. The only issue I have with it, is its too addictive. One other thing is that there are cheats who play. That can be annoying.
