Team Fortress 2 Oculus Rift support coming soon
In an interview with Engadget Valve's Joe Ludwig revealed that support for the Oculus Rift would soon be added into Team Fortress 2, allowing everyone with one of the virtual reality headsets to play the game. You won't need to connect to special servers or anything - Oculus Rift owners will play alongside everyone else in servers. I have no doubt some Oculus Rift specific servers will shoot up though.
The patch to add Oculus Rift support is expected to hit the PC version of Team Fortress 2 in a couple of weeks - Mac and Linux users will have to wait until the SDKs for their operating systems are released. In other Oculus Rift news from earlier this week, an official blog post on Saturday explained Doom 3 BFG Edition will not be packaged with the Oculus Rift. The BFG Edition of Doom 3 was originally planned to come with the Oculus Rift at various tiers of the Kickstarter, but will apparently not be Rift-ready by the time they begin shipping. Instead, those people who backed the Kickstarter and were supposed to get Doom 3 will now get either a $20 Steam Wallet credit, a $25 Oculus Store credit or a full refund - depending on your choice. More information is available via the official site. Did you back the Oculus Rift and were you looking forward to Doom 3? Or are you more interested in Team Fortress 2?
