SimCity should be issue free when it launches in Australia

If you've read the internet, you probably know that EA are having a bit of trouble with SimCity since it launched in the US last night. Some people are having trouble saving their game, while others can't even play it at all. As noted by Kotaku AU however, these issues should be fixed by the time the game releases internationally tomorrow.

According to the latest tweet from the official Origin account, EA are confident the game and service will be stable and issue free when SimCity launches tomorrow - excellent news for all of us excited to get our city management on. I've checked with EA for further word, but I expect they'll say pretty much the same thing.

Are you looking forward to SimCity - did you play in the beta? Joaby's excellent review will be up tomorrow in line with the launch, I have an inkling it's pretty positive. I have to say, I was pretty mad when I first learned the game wouldn't get a simultaneous release internationally, but I guess if it means we miss out on frustrating connection issues it's not so bad. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.

Will I still be forced to use Origin if I want to play it? It'd be a shame to add that to the list of things that make EA games so below average of late.

What Tim said, only more polite.

If you use Steam you have no right to complain about Origin. They're both terrible, and I'd rather not use them.

The only time I would use Origin is when I happen to buy a hard copy of an EA game. If I'm buying games online it's nearly always through Steam because they actually have reasonable local prices and really good sales. I would never buy an EA game online because they're a mad rip off most of the time, so using Origin is a pain in the ass :)

Most of the time. Unless it's an Activision game and then we still get boned. And EA have picked up their game with that recently, I got like Crysis 2 for $10 and PGA Masters 12 for like $5. They just don't have a big enough selection to offer proper discounts yet. Also I like the way they present your games. I know Steam can do something like that, but EA's looks neater. The latest Steam beta is pretty sweet though. anyways whats up

I think Joab should have waited till the layman got the game before reviewing this. If he was allowed early access on uncongested servers then that is unrealistic of what the public should expect.
Im reading horror stories on other forums and a lot of people slamming this game for lack of features and drm.

Ouch. I may be outraged by EA and their underhanded behaviour and poor choices and the creation and isolation of their product through Origin... But worse than A:CM?? I know 'Always Online DRM' is stupid for a game like this, but at least they got the product they paid for, right? That's cold!

That's why our review isn't up yet, so I can play it on live servers.

Yeah, I'm with TooTs. Give me a cheap-as-free copy and I'll slap my face against the keys till there's a review, the same way The Escapist guys do!
