Thief everybody! I can't tell you how excited I am. Well, I can - both overwhelmingly excited and really really worriedly excited. I mean, this is the game that was at one point actually in all seriousness tentatively titled THI4F. Back when I was growing up however, Thief was one of the first games to ever speak to me, whispering 'Running about shooting people in the open is not very Batman my friend, it's not Batman at all.'

Thief
The April cover of Game Informer.

Thief is being built by Eidos Montreal - who did an excellent job with Deus Ex: Human Revolution and the game will be available on the PC, PlayStation 4 and the still unnamed next Microsoft console. Unlike Deadly Shadows, Thief will return to the first person view, and as Garrett you will traverse the game's levels however you please.

If it sounds a bit like Dishonored, that's because it is - until today I thought Dishonored was as close as we would get to another installment of Thief after THI4F was laughed out of the room. Game Informer has exclusive details on the new Thief, which is gracing their cover this month (hence the picture above.) Are you interested in another Thief? Do you think Eidos Montreal can pull it off? Let us know in the comments below!

Human Rev was fantastic, I'm pretty excited for this now!

Cautiously optimistic. Eidos Montreal really surprised me with how good DX:HR was, but Squeenix being involved in any game has me worried a bit.

dx:hr is a great game, but lacked certain charms of the original game. replayability suffered due to the insane amount of upgrades and useless augments. hopefully they first go back and replay the thief series and bring us a wonderful stealth title.

Let's hope they don't outsource sections of the game like they did for HR boss fights.

You need a retraction in the article too limimi - Deadly Shadows wasn't third person, third person was just an option. I played the whole thing in first person except Shalebridge Cradle - that I played with a hand over my eyes.

You've got that backwards hoax, first person was an option but the game was designed for third person. I remember reading an interview explaining why back in the day - basically it was 'money'.

But if we deny third person existed it will be better this time, right?

Just like there were only three Star Wars movies.

HR bossfights w4r4 r4lative to th4 story and add4d pow4rfully to the narrativ4 most p4opl4 ov4r look this. Th4y also ov4r look that it was the stag4s th4ms4lv4s that took pr4c4d4nc4 ov4r th4 boss fights which was tru4 to the original although th4 original manag4d to hav4 gr4at4r imp4tus.

They pulled of HR exceptionally well. HRs combat felt a little smudged on hard which is something they will have to get creative with and perfect in Thief so I may err a little but not to much.

Just hope the worlds are bigger and more degrees of freedom than the original, the game was great just the terrain a bit limiting.
