Tomb Raider and Crysis 3 reviewed!
It looks like our man kozeeii has been busy this week, reviewing two games in quick succession! He kicked things off yesterday with his review of Crysis 3 - which is, like Dave K, very handsome and going nearly invisible. Ladies.
Rather than using traditional health bars, thanks to your nanosuit, you’ve got an energy meter. Thanks to your augmented abilities you can redirect it into armour so you’re hard as nails or a cloak to slip by all sneaky sneaky. These abilities are central to your gameplay as you decide whether or not to slip by and silently kill when necessary to avoid conflict or jump right in and bring the pain. Traditionally I’m not a huge fan of stealth but found myself relying heavily on it for two reasons. What two reasons? Ahahahaha! I'll never tell! Check out kozeeii's excellent Crysis 3 review to find out! Then we move on to Dave 'lower-case k kozeeii' K's outstanding review of Tomb Raider, a game I have been looking forward to ever since we saw that footage a bunch of people lost their minds over. Snakes alive. Speaking of snakes, do you remember the snakes in the orignal Tomb Raider? Trick question, there were none you posing hipster scum. I tried to trick kozeeii like this, but he only tricked me back by punching me in the stomach until I wet my pants. Ladies: As you level up you’ll be able to throw dirt in their face, use stealth to be a silent killer by strangling them with your bow or stun them for a finishing move. The higher tiers unlock one of the goriest dodge and coup de graces I’ve ever seen. As your adversary strikes, if you dodge correctly you’ll have the chance (via quick time button press) to embed an arrow in their foot as you roll past the strike. This leaves them prime for an embedding pickaxe strike to the top of the skull complete with suitably bloody spray. I constantly threw Lara into harm’s way time after time just to get another chance to see the animation again. It really is something else. It certainly sounds like something else! Continue reading Dave K's fantastic review of Tomb Raider so you can wait anxiously for it with me and every other person not lucky enough to nab a copy before its release next Tuesday! Have you bought it already? Have you played Crysis 3 already? What did you think? Let us know in the comments below! |
