Brutal Legend coming to PC February 26

Double Fine today announced via press release that Brütal Legend - their heavy metal Action Adventure/Real Time Strategy title first released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 back in 2009 - will now be coming to PC, hitting Steam on February 26.

Brütal Legend follows Eddie Riggs, a roadie for the awful heavy metal band Kabbage Boy. Following an accident Eddie (who is voiced by Jack Black by the way) is transported to a magical world of heavy metal, where he meets various characters voiced by metal personalities like Ozzy Osbourne, Lemmy and Rob Halford.

Like heavy metal itself, Brütal Legend was not massively popular upon release but has a cult following of dedicated fans (would it be a Double Fine title if it didn't?) and proved popular with critics - as Joaby's review shows. Brütal Legend is currently available to pre-order for $14.99 - 25% off its normal price of $19.99. Have you played Brütal Legend? Or have you been waiting for it to come to PC? If you've been waiting, I should note, you are mad - it's been four years. I realise it was justified in this one instance but you need to learn to let go. Anyway, let us know about your various mental instabilities in the comments below!

Greetings! I joined this game arena just so I could be one of the first peoples to post on this most amazing news! This is one of the greatest games of all time! I've played through it on PS3 many times, and I still find it intoxicating to periodically just cruise for demons to kill and enjoy the music and scenery while intoxicated. Yes, yes, I might be in the cult category for this game; but if you don't like this game, then the power of rock will smite you! I'm putting my money down on this as soon as I get off work today. Yes, I'm at work right now, working. I'm not on break or lunch or anything. This was simply a moral imperative. Can't wait to experience all the enhancements. I will play this glorious game on my big screen in 3D and it will be good. It's about time this came to PC. The gods of rock are pleased!

Wow... You really love Brutal Legend, eh? :)

Look, I'm not saying Jack Black is the least funny person on the planet, I'm just saying that his spluttering, blood choked gasps for air would make me laugh more than his comedy does, but my shrink informs me that this feeling can be contained with medication.

I seem to remember Brutal Legend looking kinda fun. Does anyone know how it handles on PC? Crappy port, or master work of mouse and keyboard handling? I'd pay $15 for it if it worked okay, I think.

It's release date is the 26th, so no one knows quite yet. It only has multiplayer right now in beta. When flying in the air, it's much smoother and faster than the consoles, so, with any luck, that's a sign of more sweet goodness to come. There is currently no playable controller support, which might actually be a good thing, as the pc version is likely a direct port from xbox, which alludes to them rewriting much of the code. I.e., it's not gonna be another nerfed pc game released just to shut us up. They seem to be acutally making sure the game will be as comparable to today's standards on pc as possible, rather than the standards of 5 years ago. I'm of the thinking it's going to be pretty epic. Bonus, they're releasing the DLC from the consoles as just part of the main game. To be expected, but good form none the less. Thank you Double Fine, and thank you Tim Schafer. Huzzah!
