EA working on next-gen games, but not Medal of Honor
We've all known it for a while and there have been occasional comments by people in the industry, but we now have solid confirmation - the next generation of consoles is on its way and EA are working on it. The news came out in EA's earnings report today, where John Riccitiello - CEO of EA - explained they were working on 'gen-four consoles and content' - a term which goes to show just how confusing numbering different generations can be.
Other news to come out of the earnings call includes the delay of Insomniac's upcoming title Fuse to Q2, the massive success of FIFA 13 and Madden 13 and the shelving of the Medal of Honor franchise. The Medal of Honor franchise was taken 'out of rotation' after its most recent title - Warfighter - was a commercial failure. As noted by Joystiq, EA's COO Peter Moore said of the franchise: "Critics were polarized and gave the game scores which were, frankly, lower than it deserved. This one is behind us now. We are taking Medal of Honor out of the rotation and have a plan to bring year-over-year continuity to our shooter offerings." When Junglist reviewed Warfighter he gave it a 6.5, which I thought was pretty generous to be honest. What did you think of Warfighter and are you looking forward to the next generation's console wars? Let us know in the comments below.
