Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition submitted for R18+ classification
Yes you read that correct folks, Warner Bros. are attempting to get Mortal Kombat classified at R18+ in Australia, by reissuing it as the 'Komplete Edition' - which bundles the original game with all of its DLC, the hilariously awful Mortal Kombat movie from 1995 and the album 'Mortal Kombat: Songs Inspired By The Warriors' - an album of, obviously, songs inspired by the warriors from Mortal Kombat - featuring tracks by the likes of Skrillex and MSTRKRFT's JFK.
As reported by Ausgamers, reissuing the game in this way allows Warner Bros. to bypass the traditional two year period publishers have to wait before attempting to reclassify a game. Whether it makes it through or not will be interesting - both the original console release and the PlayStation Vita version of Mortal Kombat was refused classification when it was submitted - although it still managed to acquire the highly coveted Fighting Game of the Year for 2011 by you, our incredibly handsome readers. Let's all cross our fingers and hope for the best this time around. Do you think Mortal Kombat will make it through under the new classification system or will it still be refused?
