Chris Taylor's development studio Gas Powered Games - the developer of popular titles like Dungeon Siege, Supreme Commander and Demigod Space Siege Age of Empires Online Supreme Commander 2 have announced their next title - Wildman - an action RPG with elements of real time strategy set in caveman times.

The game will follow your Wildman as he gains knowledge of advanced tools like stones for bashing, wheels and significantly more advanced stuff and GPG are touting its advanced AI, destructible environments and the mod tools they've developed for it, which are web-based for easy access. As mentioned earlier, Wildman will also incorporate RTS elements with players wrestling for control of a 'warzone' - the middle of the map, where your army fights the enemy.

Currently going through the Kickstarter process, Wildman is looking for a rather steep $1,100,000 - although it has managed $58,506 already. Taylor seems incredibly excited about the Kickstarter process, particularly in relation to letting fans help mould the game, so it will be interesting to see how it progresses. You can back Wildman on Kickstarter or the official site if you can't use Kickstarter.

Embedded below is Gas Powered Games' introduction to the game - it's currently available through Youtube (so it's metered) but once it hits our server I'll update the post. What do you think of Wildman, does this sound like your kind of thing? It sounds like a better looking, more RTS-style version of the indie Action-RPG Depths of Peril and I'm interested to see how it goes. How about you? Let us know in the comments below!

Update: As hoax86 points out in the comments below, Gas Powered Games did not make Total Annihilation.

TA was developed by Cavedog, which had Chris Taylor and a bunch of other GPG people but wasn't the same company.

Thanks for the correction, I've updated the article. Man, without TA GPG have a really short list of decent titles.

Want to shorten it even more? SupCom 2 was terrible.
