Rocket explains what is happening with DayZ Standalone
It has been quite a while since anyone last heard from Dean "Rocket" Hall and a lot of people have been wondering - where is the standalone release of DayZ? The original plan was for a release before the end of 2012 and while we got a hilarious substitute, the DayZ front has been quiet. A little too quiet, if you know what I mean.
Hello ladies Today however, Rocket has broken his radio silence, writing an explanation on the official blog of what has been going on with the world's most anticipated standalone re-release of a mod since Counter Strike. In short - a lot. The inventory system was scrapped and redone, with items now having durability, batteries and addons. Items in your inventory are now 3D and the entire UI has been revamped to make things more simple and straight-forward. And a good deal of work has been done on art throughout Chernarus - like the above female model. A closed test will begin soon to make sure the architecture is working well and then, once they fix any issues which arise from that, they will start thinking about maybe setting an internal date for the public release. In other words, it's still a ways off. Which seems against Hall's 'minecraft-style pay for alpha' spirit, but I'm certainly not against fixing the UI.
