Black Mesa Source wins ModDB MOTY
2012 is wrapping up and everybody is talking about their favourites. While The GameArena GOTY Survey wraps up next week, why not take this time to check out some of the best mods for this year, with moddb's Mod of the Year results in?
This is apparently the only screenshot I took of Black Mesa The two top titles should come as no surprise to anyone, the entire gaming community has flipped out over them. Some might not agree with the placement however, with Joaby's favourite DayZ taking second place and first place going to Black Mesa - Half Life lovingly recrafted and built in the Source engine of its successors. Third place went to the Half Life Total Conversion mod Cry of Fear - a survival horror title with surprisingly nice graphics considering its basis. The rest of the list is well worth checking out - particularly if you grabbed the THQ Humble Bundle a couple of weeks ago - three of the top ten mods are for Company of Heroes and the list also includes the likes of The Sith Lords Restored Content Mod for KOTOR 2 and MISERY for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat (though you might want to wait for the incoming 2.0 patch for MISERY.) If you haven't played the winner Black Mesa yet, you can grab it right now from our Downloads Library - it's definitely worth it. If you want to give third place Cry of Fear a shot you can also grab it from our downloads library - and grab the 1.2 patch while you're at it. I'm going to assume you already know how to get into DayZ, because it seems like everyone on Earth does. For me the best mod this year was definitely TSLRCM - I was really happy to get back into KOTOR 2. What was your favourite mod this year? Let us know in the comments below!
