Tales of Game's announces sequel to Barkley, Shut up and Jam: Gaiden
Strap in boys and girls, because Tales of Games - the guys behind the Wu-Tang themed roguelike The Sewer Goblet and the world's very best indie JRPG Barkley, Shut up and Jam: Gaiden have announced the next epic addition to the Hoopz Barkley SaGa - The Magical Realms of Tír na nÓg: Escape from Necron 7 – Revenge of Cuchulainn: The Official Game of the Movie – Chapter 2 of the Hoopz Barkley SaGa.
If you've never played Barkley, Shut up and Jam: Gaiden, go play it right now. It takes place after Charles Barkley makes the Chaos Dunk and almost destroys the universe - and B-Ball is banned on pain of death. When another Chaos Dunk tears through Manhattan, Charles must hide from Michael Jordan, who is tasked with bringing him in, rescue his son Hoopz, try to clear his name and stop whoever set off the second Chaos Dunk. While it might sound like pure basketball themed ridiculousness, Shut up and Jam: Gaiden actually packs a lot more into its small seems - every save you perform, for example, is accompanied by the most ridiculously dramatic and overblown forum posts from JRPG fans you've ever seen. Barkley 2 will apparently be an action RPG set in an open world with non-linear progression. The synopsis as explained on the site is: Barkley 2 pits the player as X114JAM9, an amnesiac baller with no recollection of his past and no concept of his incredible b-ball destiny. Only the arcane wisdom of the otherworldly slam scholar Cyberdwarf can reclaim his lost memories… and lost b-ball powers. But first, X114JAM9 must evade the sinister grasp of the malevolent A.I. Cuchulainn, his would-be captor and the ancient nemesis of all ballers, hoopsters, slammers and jammers. A Kickstarter will begin for the game later this month, which I will back to the moon. Following the official twitter feed reveals many of the people who worked on the original game are back for the sequel in some part, so it should be great. Have you played Barkley: Shut up and Jam: Gaiden? If not, what the heck are you doing? Get to it, I don't want to have to tell you again. If so, are you going to back the Kickstarter?
