THQ pushes back South Park, Metro Last Light and Company of Heroes 2

Foul fortune for fans of fear, funny and complex WW2 tactics games - THQ has pushed back the release dates of some of its most anticipated titles.

Sorry, that should read - THQ has pushed back the release dates of all of its titles. South Park will now release no earlier than May next year (pushed from March 5) and COH2 and MLL will both have to wait until March 2013.

In this quarter's investor report Jason Rubin outlined his reasons for delaying the games,

We have been working closely with the co-creators of South Park, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, to make sure all of the game’s content performs to the high standards of the TV show, and this takes time. THQ is committed to giving gamers no less than the rich South Park game they have been waiting for and deserve.

We are also inspired by the potential for Metro: Last Light and Company of Heroes 2. I believe Metro: Last Light is a title that should set standards for visuals with its stunning atmosphere, unique location and cutting-edge style. Company of Heroes was one of the highest rated RTS titles in history, and Relic insists that the sequel live up to its pedigree. Giving both of these titles time to reach their full potential is the right thing to do for the products.

I'm all for games getting delayed to make sure they reach a certain quality standard - I'm just terrified that while the sword hangs waiting to drop for THQ, the prospect of seeing the South Park game dims.

South Park game gets axed? Nothing of value was lost.

But if they cause the demise of Company of Heroes 2, I will personally lead a Russian tank battalion charge through the house of every THQ executive.

Well, I guess THQ are confident they can ride this out longer than everyone else thinks they can - either that or they're teeing up a buyer.

Shame about Metro. I was looking forward to that.

South Park game gets axed? Are your eyes painted on poindexta?
And what's wrong with South Park? You gotta be a pretty big pin-head to not like South Park
Yeah lets hate on stuff that makes you laugh and brings joy and pokes fun at the sadistic stereotypes and bureaucratic nature of the system we live in.
