Standalone DayZ screens show off new insides
It's been a while since we last heard about DayZ, with creator Dean Hall knuckling down and working on the standalone game after talking to everyone in the world about the game. Hall expects the standalone version of DayZ to be available to purchase in Alpha before the end of this year and if the latest screens are anything to go by, it's looking great. In a post on the official Tumblr, Hall explains that the artists have been making their way across Chernarus Plus ensuring each building is enterable and working correctly.
Hall notes that it is still a work in progress - the screens don't represent the finished product and are taken on Normal graphics settings with medium texture resolution, but it looks pretty great so far - with nicer lighting and better looking textures throughout. Every building in the village the screenshots were taken in can now be entered, along with many of the other buildings outside cities - and Hall and the team are now working on making sure buildings inside cities are too. As you can see from the screenshots, Hall went ahead with the plans he discussed with Joaby to build the standalone game on the Arma 2 engine - more specifically it uses a branch of Take On Helicopters, which is itself a branch of Operation Arrowhead. You can check out the screenshots via the aforementioned Tumblr or over in our Games Database!
