World of Tanks Storefront Hacked - change your passwords!
The Playspan storefront for World of Tanks has been hacked, Wargaming.net announced in a news post today. While only a part of the stored usernames and passwords were stolen from the database and the passwords were dutifully encrypted, they are naturally suggesting you update the details on both your Playspan marketplace account and your World of Tanks account too.
Wargaming.net notes that if you have a separate email address for your World of Tanks and Playspan accounts changing your details isn't necessary, but otherwise you are better being safe than sorry. You can change your details via the official site. Of course, if you use the same email address and password combo for anywhere else, now might be a good time to change that too. And if you don't have a World of Tanks account, why not use this as a reason to update your details on your various favourite sites anyway? Prevention, as they say, is better than the cure. Personally, I use a 3 tiered system - websites I don't think I'll ever visit again but am forced to register with (and don't have a bugmenot user) I use one password, sites of importance to me get another, more complex password and sites of critical importance get their own ridiculous passwords, that I spend about a half hour every night trying to remember - because I am weird.
