THQ Asia Pacific shutting down
As reported by MCV Pacific, THQ Asia Pacific is set to close down in the upcoming months. The move follows last years closing down of Blue Tongue in Melbourne and THQ Australia in Brisbane, after THQ's struggles following the failure of uDraw.
Following the closure, THQ's sales and publishing will be handled by All Interactive Entertainment. THQ's Executive Vice President of Global Publishing Ian Curran explained: The evolution of our distribution model in the Asia Pacific region will allow us to increase our reach with a lower cost model. AIE is a trusted business partner with whom we have worked with for many years as our distributor in New Zealand." THQ Asia Pacific is not the only company to shut down its Australian branch recently, with Sega doing likewise not too long ago. With digital distribution increasing in the public eye and AIE taking over distributing THQ's titles in Australia, this news is unlikely to affect Australian consumers, but any closing doors negatively impact the Australian games industry. Our best wishes go out to everyone at THQ Asia Pacific and their families.
