Rugby League Live 2 Reviewed
Ahh, Rugby League. The sport of kings, if kings were foul-mouthed drunken idiots from Canterbury. There's nothing quite like it, except for Rugby Union, American Football, Aussie Rules and Gaelic Football. Every couple of years we get a new attempt to bring this sport into the 21st Century - video game style - and every other year I crack out Jonah Lomu Rugby on my PlayStation 1 to make the hurt go away via the very similar game of Rugby Union (from the 20th Century).
Rugby League Live 2 broke street date yesterday, so I guess the question is - will we see an influx in purchasing of Jonah Lomu Rugby on eBay again, or is this actually a decent game? Because we all know the last two games were not. Let's have a look, shall we? Elsewhere they've made significant improvements. The timing on the animations has been tightened significantly, which means you no longer see Dragon Ball Z style warping tackles - a marked improvement. Playing the ball has a bit of pace to it and scrums stay locked in a little after the ball feeds out the back so you don't have the six biggest blokes on the field all a half-metre away from you all milling about doing nothing. Sounds positive right? Like an early M. Night Shyamalan film though, there's a twist in this one - and you'll have to read the whole thing to see it!
