PlayStation Mobile games now available on PS Vita and select Android devices
Sony today announced their cross platform gaming service PlayStation Mobile has gone live in the US, along with the UK, Japan, several European countries and - most importantly - Australia. PlayStation Mobile allows studios to develop games for both PlayStation Certified Android devices and the PlayStation Vita and begins with a selection of 20 games in its line up ranging in price from free on up.
Super Crate Box on PS Vita. It's impossible to screencap this game without dying. Naturally the selection is rather limited at the moment. You can view the entire list of titles available on PSN Stores, but the highlights being the addictive-but-incredibly-difficult rhythm game Frederic - Ressurection of Music, Flick Hockey, Samurai Beatdown and the outstanding Super Crate Box, which, if I'm being honest, is the entire reason I made this post. I freaking hated Super Crate Box on iOS thanks to touch controls, but the PlayStation Vita has actual controllers, meaning I can finally play that mind bogglingly addictive game anywhere I like. If you aren't familiar with Super Crate Box, read LeighH's excellent write up on it right here and go grab the PC version off Steam or the official site - it's free either way, although it's well worth the couple of bucks you'll need to fork out for the mobile version. PlayStation Mobile is currently limited to Sony phones and tablets and newer HTC devices like the X and the One - but recently companies like Asus and Fujitsu have also signed on to the certification process - meaning if you don't have a PlayStation Certified device currently, you might get one in the future - and naturally the games available through the PS Mobile platform will be available on any of your devices (although there are activation limits.) Also, while some people I've spoken to are saying the games are available now in Australia, it isn't showing up for others - so you might have to wait an hour or two for the games to show up. More games are headed to PS Mobile soon - I'd previously thought Eufloria was a launch title, hopefully it's coming in the near future - so what do you think of this move? Have you grabbed any of the games yet, or are you planning on getting them? Let us know in the comments below!
