PlayStation Vita's 1.80 update live, get your PSX on
The 1.80 update for the PlayStation Vita, unveiled at Gamescom to feature a slew of new functions including support for classic PlayStation One titles is now available! Naturally the easiest way to grab it is to just download it to your PSVita via WiFi, but you can also grab it by connecting it to your PlayStation 3 or a PC with the Content Manager Assistant.
I need two more games. You can check out the full list of titles which will be available on the European PlayStation blog - and the list is huge. Every Final Fantasy (except for Tactics, which never came out in PAL regions) is available, Twisted Metal, Silent Hill and Destruction Derby are there - even Metal Gear Solid, meaning you can now play three amazing Metal Gear Solid games on your PS Vita. While the PlayStation Store won't update to list the titles until tomorrow, you can currently bypass the wait by downloading the PSX games you want to your PlayStation 3 and transferring them to your PS Vita. In fact, similar to PSP titles it seems you can even copy games which aren't specifically listed - I would have had this post up earlier if I hadn't been started playing Suikoden again. It's possible 'non-compatible' titles have some kinks to work out though, so keep that in mind. The other features coming with the 1.80 update include the ability to utilise Music Playlists (finally), the ability to send photos through Group Messaging and better 'near' functionality. Buttons can now be used to control your device too - as opposed to just touch screen support - though it should be noted you need to turn that functionality on via your Settings.
