Is the HL3-style game irrelevant? I'd say so. In this age of cover-based, regenerative health, 2 weapon boring ass shooters there's definitely a decent sized niche of people who miss the days of, you know, good shooters. And let's look at Valves other shooters - Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead, which are still amongst the most massively known brands today. The only core difference in gameplay mechanics between those three games is multi vs single player. Are you saying nobody cares for single player games any more?
