Undead Labs announces State of Decay for XBLA, PC
Way back in 2009, Jeff Strain - who was lead programmer on World of Warcraft and one of the founders of ArenaNet - announced his new company Undead Labs. They were making a new game under the codename 'Class3' - which was to be a Massively Multiplayer Online game about survival and zombies. Now, 3 years later, Class3 has a proper name - State of Decay - and it's coming to the Xbox Live Arcade and PC sometime in the near future.
State of Decay won't be an MMO - instead Undead Labs will focus on getting the gameplay right first, and then building 'Class4' - an MMO follow up. It sounds pretty awesome nevertheless - like a blend of Dead Rising and Day Z. Players will need to keep themselves alive, finding food, water, ammo and fuel in their environment to escape the zombie horde. You will choose where to set up base, recruit more survivors and defend your position. As opposed to Day Z's methodical military-sim based experience however, in State of Decay the player will be more like an action-hero - diving through windows and kicking zombies in the head. Embedded below is the debut trailer for State of Decay, which you can also watch in our videos library - going full screen for HD of course. You can check out more details about the game over on the official website - although currently a release date is unknown. Nevertheless, it looks pretty excellent and I can't wait to learn more - how about you? Let us know in the comments below!
