Jet Set Radio HD release date announced, Zineth out now
You might remember a little while ago that Jet Set Radio HD was announced - a HD remake of the 12 year old Dreamcast title. And now SEGA have announced Jet Set Radio HD's release date and pricing, with the game hitting the PC and Xbox 360 on September 19th. PlayStation 3 owners can get the game on September 18th - and a week earlier on September 11th for PlayStation Plus subscribers. The PlayStation Vita version will hit a little later, arriving on October 16th.
The game will be available for $9.99 on the PC, 800 MS Points on the Xbox 360 - and while the SEGA blog suggests a PSN price of $9.99, we can assume we will get the usual markup and have to pay somewhere between $12 and $15. The separate release dates for the PS3 and PS Vita versions suggest it probably won't be a single purchase for both versions deal too, although we'll have to wait and see. In even better news than an impending release of a game, you can play Zineth - the indie game with the Jet Set Radio feel developed by developer collective Arcane Kids - right now. In fact, not only can you play it right now, you absolutely should play it right now, it's brilliant. Available on the PC and Mac, you can grab it from the official site - it's only a 50MB download so it won't dig into your quota if you're a Bigpond user. And I seriously can't recommend it enough.
Not only does it have incredibly fast paced grinding and jumping action, the Arcane Kids have filled it with all sorts of little extras. Skating about in a large open world, you do missions for your boss like 'distribute zines' or 'go to the moon' compete in challenges and collect goodies. You carry your phone around with you too allowing you to read twitter and emails from your boss and people you accidentally run into. Your phone even has a little game built into it, which you can challenge npcs to as you traverse the environment. It's best played with an Xbox 360 controller and either way the controls take some getting used to, but it's worth the effort. Stop reading this and go and play it already!
