Uplay comes with backdoor exploit, update to secure your PC
Yesterday an exploit in Ubisoft's Uplay application was revealed, explaining how the software's browser plugin could easily be used to give anyone access to a computer through a web browser. That's bad. Very bad. Fortunately, Ubisoft responded very quickly once word got out, updating the application and explaining to Rock, Paper, Shotgun:
“We have made a forced patch to correct the flaw in the browser plug-in for the Uplay PC application that was brought to our attention earlier today. We recommend that all Uplay users update their Uplay PC application without a Web browser open. This will allow the plug-in to update correctly. An updated version of the Uplay PC installer with the patch also is available from Uplay.com. While I'm sure we can all appreciate the speed with which they resolved the problem, I think we can all also think of another, easier solution to the problem. Like, oh, not slapping ridiculously draconian DRM on titles. Regardless, if you haven't done so already you should go ahead and update Uplay right freaking now. How does this affect you?
