Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition hits PC September 18th
Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition, if you have forgotten since it was announced is a remake of Baldur's Gate - which along with Fallout began the third generation of computer RPGs. BGEE will run AD&D - the best D&D - and will have mod support and cross platform multiplayer support for the Windows, Mac, iOS and Android versions. The Mac, iPad and Android versions' release dates aren't yet certain, but are expected to launch close to the PC's September 18th release.
The enhanced edition of the game will feature additions to Baldur's Gate including three new characters and a new quest. The DLC is available free on the PC and Mac, but two of the characters - Dorn Il-Khan and Neera - and the new voice sets and player portraits will be available as in-app purchases on the iPad and Android tablets. Overhaul have also made strides to ensure it isn't required too - to the point where if you save it on a device in a DLC area and load on a device without DLC, you won't have issues - which is a pretty sweet deal. You can pre-order the game now to knock $2 off the $19.99 PC price, which will be available as a direct download from the official website. I was a little iffy when I first heard about the DLC, but since you get it anyway on the PC I'm not too bothered. Overhaul's enthusiasm for mod support is incredibly encouraging too - and makes it likely purists will have some sort of vanilla mod to use too. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below!
