Shootmania Storm pre-order gives unlimited access to Beta

Shootmania Storm is a first person shooter in the Rocket Arena vein, it features an "easy to use" (quotations used because I'm awful at it) level creator and its focus on making the game eSports friendly makes me want to hug it.

The modes I've played feature only two weapons - one of them a secret railgun power-up with a huge emphasis on risk/reward, the other a plasma type gun which fires bullets at about the same rate as a Q3 RL. The trick is, these plasma balls create no splash damage at all - only direct hits count - but the balls have splashback, so you can still use them to rocket jump (or use the splash to push other players around). More - a player can only absord two hits and there are no health pickups on the map, so everyone has a finite time to spend on a map.

I haven't really put in enough time to review it, but one is definitely coming soon - for now though, consider jumping over to their page and checking it out for yourself - with a A$16.77 price tag (based on current conversion rates) it's a bit better than spending $100s on games you're not going to play in the Steam Sales.
