Source Filmmaker enters open beta

Just two weeks ago Valve launched the 'Meet the Pyro' video and announced the impending launch and closed beta of the Source Filmmaker - a tool to easily assist in the making of machinima - video films created using video game resources. Following Valve's traditionally short closed beta period, the application entered open beta yesterday and is now available for one and all to get their hands on.

The program can be downloaded via Steam and gives you the innards of Team Fortress 2 and both Meet the Heavy and Meet the Engineer to help inspire you to greatness. From the closed beta and some quick folks in the open beta there are already a good deal of videos to watch - and you can check them out on Valve's newly created Source Filmmaker section of the Community. Naturally, as it's downloadable via Steam I can't guarantee it will be quota-free for Bigpond users.
