Vostok Games releases new Dev Diary for Survarium

You remember Survarium right? The Free to Play first person MMO being developed by ex-S.T.A.L.K.E.R. devs? A new developer diary has been released for it, bringing a swathe of new - and confusing details. We also get to see some of the actual game in-engine, and it looks suitably atmospheric.

But as for the details, well... We learn what the 5 Skills each player will have and they are straight forward enough: Firearms, Physical ability, Medical knowledge, Technical training and a fifth skill based around knowledge of the new world - giving the player better skills dealing with anomalies, artifacts and various other changed aspects of the world. Players level up skills by gaining experience of course and while they generally give small passive boosts to the skills, they sometimes give the player a special ability - longer sprint and 'hold breath' (for sniping) were two of the abilities mentioned.

Then the dev diary goes into game modes. The game modes listed are Team Combat, Co-operative Playthrough and Free Play Mode. While most MMOs these days tend to separate their PVP and PVE content, separating things into modes like this does not sound very MMO like. While comments on the original Survarium article indicate that we can all appreciate that, I don't much care for confusion.

Naturally, the video is in Russian, or Belgian, or Mexican or something, so I can't understand a word of it - this may just be a translation problem with the subtitles. So you should probably check it out for yourself - embedded below or in our videos library. And go full screen, the subtitles are a little on the small side. What do you think? Does this sound more or less like something you'd want anything to do with?

I'll play it in 2016 when it has failed, they release the source code for free, and their community of fans fixes the game.

The only thing that makes the STALKER games remotely playable is the dedication of the nutters who dismantle it and reassemble it into a working program.

serious? you want to make an mmo based on "hey most people died except some so now that you survived you should go earn money by doing things day after day after day for a faction rather then just go hey everyones dead ill take what I need"

I smell flop.
