The Darkness 2 devs announce Warframe

The Darkness 2 was a great game - as Joaby noted in his review it blended great gameplay with outstanding visuals and awesome narrative. As Digital Extremes also worked on Unreal Tournament, we should all obviously get excited by Digital Extreme's next project - a free to play third person shooter titled Warframe - and let's pretend Dark Sector didn't exist.

Warframe puts you and three friends in the shoes of the Tenno, a race of creatures who have been enslaved by the Grineer for centuries. When they find dormant exo-skeletal tech known as Warframes however, they begin to fight back - and that's where we come in. Unlike most shooters in the Free to Play arena, Warframe is primarily Player vs Environment based - in squads of four you fight back against the Grineer in procedurally generated levels - meaning each mission will be unique every time.

Not a lot else is known about the game at the moment, although you can register for a spot in the beta on the official site and check out a very nice looking trailer - you can also watch it embedded below, but it is a YouTube clip, so it's metered content for Bigpond users.
