Skyrim 360 Voice Support comes out tomorrow!

You may have watched the trailer for Skyrim's upcoming free Kinect-based voice support patch already (I've embedded it below if you haven't) but if not, you really should. It's more than enough to make me wish I'd grabbed the game on the Xbox 360 - although with the PC I can easily grab the ThuuMic mod to do the same thing - albeit not with Bethesda's support.

It's awesome of Bethesda to add a fun and ridiculous feature like this into the game, letting you shout Fus Ro Dah at your computer with wild abandon, not to mention the litany of spells and other things the patch supports. You can grab a full list of the available commands on the Bethesda Blog ahead of tomorrows release.

While you wait for tomorrow, you can watch the trailer for the patch embedded below or in our videos library. Are you still playing Skyrim? It's kind of strange that for me, a free patch is one of the few things that excite me about a Kinect.

I guess the novelty factor is pretty high but I can't imagine really using it as my main way to interface with the game. I would feel silly.

I'm off Skyrim until some DLC emerges anyway, completed all of the quest lines except for the Thieves Guild which is irreparably broken.

Makes me wonder why features like this don't come out on all three platforms? Both PC and PS3 have microphones available to them and since it's only voice support...

Lame.

Machinist, that reminds me of trying to use Binary Domain's voice support on its unbelievably ****** PC port. The difference is that Microsoft take care of the actual voice stuff at their end - meaning Bethesda just have to integrate it.

At least the option was there for voice support. Being a PC and PS3 gamer, I feel a bit left out in the cold when xbox users gain access to this "great" new feature when I've spent the same amount of cash on the game myself.

Speaking of BD, was it even any good? Seemed to be released with little fan-fare, but looked interesting in the trailers...

Yeah, even given the bad port I'm enjoying it. Storywise it seems like it's going in a bit of a predictable direction so far, but the characters are neat and the story concept itself is pretty great. Gameplay wise, it's kind of a blend of third person cover shooter and rpg, with the rpg elements frankly getting in the way what with accuracy being a feature and all. That aside though, it's not bad - not bad enough for me to give up on the game for the story at least.
