Skype hits PS Vita today

Since its launch, things have been a bit quiet on the PlayStation Vita. While this makes it a good time to catch up on the plethora of PSP titles available on the Sony Entertainment Network, it is a little disappointing considering the strong launch line up of the portable console. Fortunately, from today (no doubt around 11 tonight EST as usual) you will be able to call your friends and tell them how disappointed you are with the launch line up, with Skype joining the ranks of Social Media apps for the PS Vita.




The app can run in the background (assuming your game allows it) so you'll be able to stay connected, receiving calls and notifications while you play your game - even pausing your game to make a call and returning. And while in some countries 3G users are barred from using IP telephony, we've generally been pretty fortunate in Australia. Now we just have to wait until some more games come out to pause and take calls in - although I'm pretty happy with Tactics Ogre and GTA: CW right now.
