Assassin's Creed III - Some Liberty, Mostly Death
Some of you may have seen this elsewhere, others of you might not - details of the third chapter of the Assassin's Creed saga have been leaked via scans of the next issue of Game Informer - and like the Village People and Fievel, it's going West. Yes, the next chapter in the story of Desmond Miles will take place in America, leading up to the American Revolution during the late 18th Century.
Along with Desmond, Assassin's Creed III will follow a young man who calls himself Connor - the son of a British soldier and a Native American woman. His mother named him Ratohnhaké:ton, which I have spent the last half hour trying to figure out how to pronounce. During the story Connor will meet and help the likes of George Washington and Benjamin Franklin in the war against the Templar.
Assassin's Creed III will feature a brand new combat system, which will allow Connor to dual wield his tomahawks and knives and it is doing away with the auto-targeting system - meaning we might see some combat significantly more complex than 'hammer Counter to win' - definitely a good thing. Connor has been likened to the Predator, with stealth being redesigned allowing him to climb trees and use other natural elements to his advantage. It sounds very cool, especially since it has been in development for the past three years - those afraid of it being little more than a palette swap of Ezio's Italy have little to fear. Of course, it's too early to say anything for certain, but it certainly looks and sounds awesome. Also, if you're after more pretty pictures, you can find a large swathe of them at the site All Games Beta. What do you think, is this cause for excitement or eye rolling?
