Couchwarriors at the CQ on the first and second of October (this weekend.) If you want to play casual matches the entry cost will be $35 at the door for the weekend - with the option to enter one (or all) of the tournaments by adding to the prize pool. If you're not interested in playing any of the fighting games (or just not willing to embarrass yourself in front of 300 strangers like me) - spectators can gain entry for a mere $5.
The main attraction this year is Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition, with not only the world class 1v1 tournament, but also a teams tournament - and some interstate rivalry between Sydney and Melbourne. Marvel vs Capcom 3, Street Fighter III 3rd Strike Online and BlazBlue: Continuum Shift 2 will have tournaments for those who prefer their fighting games with a little less depth - literally, since they are 2d. Do you get it? Good god I'm great.
Also in the mix will be Tekken 6 and Virtua Fighter 5 - tournaments which will probably involve being bitter and trying to convince Street Fighter fans that Tekken 6 and Virtua Fighter 5 are much better games. Rounding out the tournaments will be Super Smash Brothers Brawl and Melee, where you can endlessly watch Starfox fight Starfox with no weapons in Final Destination.
Competitive gaming is not the only reason to go to BAM 2011 however, as it will also provide the first Australian showcasing of Soul Calibur 5, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Street Fighter X Tekken! That's right, an early build machine of Street Fighter X Tekken will be available courtesy of THQ - who distribute Capcom's titles in Australia.
