Bubble Gum Interactive secures $250k, calls for beta sign-ups
While things aren't going well in other areas of the Australian Games Industry, Sydney-based developer Bubble Gum Interactive has secured $250,000 in Government funding according to Industry site MCV Pacific.
BGI has confirmed that it has received AUD$90'000 from the Screen Australia Innovation Program, which funds initiatives that are attempting to use new platforms or media, and AUD$155'000 from the Digital Media Initiative, which funds commercially oriented projects taking advantage of new digital media forms. Meanwhile their game, Little Space Heroes, is currently taking beta sign-ups - if you sign-up now you'll score entry into the closed beta as well. The team at BGI has been cool enough to send us through a teaser trailer for their game - you can see from the video that it's definitely got a market in mind. It's nice to see the Aussie dollar isn't hurting every aspect of the games industry - and even nicer to see the Government providing grants for video game development. Oh - and that's GA reviewer/previewer LeighH editing at MCV Pacific! LittleSpaceHeroes
