With StarCraft II's first instalment - Wings of Liberty - pushing past the launch date of Windows 7, it was only a matter of time before somebody popped the question about whether the three game series would feature support for DirectX 11.

In Blizzard's latest StarCraft II Q&A, that notion is shot down:

3. You have already stated that you will support DirectX 10, but what about DirectX 11?

We currently do not have any plans on supporting DirectX11-specific features, but the game will be compatible with DirectX11.

Also of note - you won't be able to automatically import old StarCraft maps into the game - rather you'll have to make them from scratch with the new game's tools.

The current edition of the Q&A also covers off on stat tracking, lore, and storyline. Worth keeping an eye on.

Good to see not all of Activision's studios have become douchebags incarnate.

So far Blizzard has managed to quarantine themselves to limit any infection.

Yeah - they're going completely the other way - post launch they're planning on having a marketplace style dealio so map makers can 'sell' maps - at least those which are voted/rated good enough to make the cut.

They're not touching it until after the game launches though, but Pardo and SIgaty will happily tell you they WANT modders - so they can make their game more played.

"We currently do not have any plans on supporting DirectX11-specific features, but the game will be compatible with DirectX11."

Because our game is actually a game finished in 2003 but we wanted to give you the illusion that we have been working on it since as to justify the 3 expansion packs at full retail price.

Or because nobody is even really using DX10 yet?

But I bet that they'd be taking a cut on that. Unless they allow users to 'sell' maps for free then I think they have been Activisionised, even if its not as bad as other companies under that brand now.

blizzard are my heroes - i almost wept tears of blood and urin when i heard actiwank had managed to sleaze their way into the best games house on the face of the earth....

i have been waiting so many years for this game to come out. No doubt it will be played for 11 years after it has been released... just like brood war is still being played.. competatively. I have to say though - its hard to play sc:bw when all your commrades are korean... and not to mention.. INCREDIBLY good at the game. shame for me.. the western nublet.

its so hard to write insults, when i dont have the keyboard setup or the language knowledge to do so.. so i rely on the ones that understand peices of english for my tormentual bliss .. tee heeeee heeee! :D
