My internets always on, and my server constantly downloading. But I dont think I actually browse the internet for more then 20 mins a day, there is only so much to do on there. But id play online games 24/7 if I could.

I dont think it matters. As long as the addiction isnt hurting other people you shouldnt care. And it also depends what you are doing on there. if you used the internet for 15 hours a day and it was your job....

Addiction: the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma.

I think, as above, if you actually suffer withdrawal symptoms when you can't use it then you'd be classified as addicted.

Personally, I don't get "withdrawal symptoms" as such. If I go away to the beach for a week, I'm not breaking out in cold sweats to get my fix. I just have a long list of things that I want to look up when I get home. I use the internet a lot, but 90% of my activity is knowledge based; news/wiki/google.

I thought I was addicted, although having a year with no net (Half of which no PC) shows that I can cope as long as I have my sweet sweet music.

Being addicted to the internet has its advantages, especially when compared to other addictions. It does depend on what you're doing, as some things are more beneficial than others, but as whole, if you're online you're generally online for a reason, and probably learning something. I mean how often have you been bored online and got stuck into a spiral of wikipedia articles about the most random things ever.

I know that whenever I'm online I'm participating in debates on forums, or reading up on the gaming industry (which I want to work in), sometimes I'm playing games online, and at the moment I'm using the internet to work on a video game with others overseas. It is definitely a handy tool for me to have, and if I'm considered an addict, well I'd rather be addicted to the internet than crack.

thats impressive. half my work relies on the net.
