Final Fantasy 1 and 2 on their way to Australia
Final Fantasy 1 and 2 on their way to Australia

Square Enix has announced the release of both Final Fantasy 1 and Final Fantasy 2 in all PAL territories come early next year for the PSP. The release will see both classic NES games in all their high resolution 2D glory.
Square Enix has re-released the English version of both of these games twice now; the PSP version draws on elements of each. Taking the full-motion video sequences from the PlayStation version of Final Fantasy Origins and the bonus dungeons from the Game Boy Advance version Dawn of Souls, the game also adds new dungeons to each game to further increase the replayability. The system does lend itself well to remakes of old classics, but it would be great to see developers try something new like Konami did with Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops. Square Enix has now re-released 6 of their Final Fantasy series on the newer consoles and all of them have been extremely popular. Is a re-release of Final Fantasy VII next? Would people buy FFVII on a handheld console? Or is it a home console only affair?
