When Rockstar Games attempted to release Manhunt 2 for the Wii, PS2 and PSP the US's ESRB granted the game an Adults Only rating, which, unfortunately for Rockstar, meant neither Sony or Nintendo could allow the game to be released on their respective consoles. Now the controversial publisher has resubmitted a modified version of the game and the ESRB has happily slapped a M rating on it which is now geared for a Halloween release in the US.

In the UK, Rockstar is appealing the decision the British Board of Film Classification made to ban the game, however, there has been no word on whether or not they will be resubmitting the modified version of the game the US did or if they will still try and have the original game released.

We contacted Rockstar Australia to comment on the game's state here in Oz, but at the time of posting they could not be reached. As soon as they get back to us though, we'll update you, so stay tuned.

Really pissed me off the amount of nintendo bashing that went on when this game was given the AO rating, people bagging Nintendo saying its a kiddy console and wldnt allow mature games and decided to ignore the fact that Sony also wouldnt allow its release. This is great news tho! Happy times for Wii/PS2 owners

No starscream you douche. Nintendo is the name of a company. Wii is a console, N64 is a console, DS is a console. You are a retard.

Fine ian. The WII IS A POS KIDDIE CONSOLE. Yeah the NES, SNES, and N64 rocked, but I was a kid back then so maybe that was my perception.

But in this age of next gen consoles, the WII looks like a POS and has a POS name.

Starscream is right.

There there....calm down ladies.... its only a Wii..... How can it cause soo much hatred in the fanboy world? Trying to argue which console is **** or gay is like trying to solve a religious argument with one hand tight around your balls

as far as im concerned any nintendo related console is a kiddy console, trust me i used to have a gamecube ages ago and the only games that came out for it were mario party 6 and mario island where you had to go around watering plants with a water jetpack :S

two of the most violent up and coming games are being released on Wii - Manhunt 2 and No More Heroes - if you ever played Killer 7, Resident Evil 4 or the like you'd know that Nintendo consoles, while certainly catering to a younger portion of the market, equally cater to the older as well. Each console has kiddie games and grown up games and all those in between, to suggest any of them are specifically mature, kiddie or otherwise would be remiss - if you're into games, on each console you're bound to find something you like, if there are things you don't like, then don't play - pretty simple really

Why would you want to play this game anyway??

In my opinion it was a good thing they were banned since if they had of kept the ban it might have forced Rockstar to actually think about how they design games.

This was to be expected. Typical behaviour.

When it AO in the US, banned in the UK but fine to be sold to the majority of Europe......they shelved it.

Now that US have dropped the rating to M....it's full speed ahead while the entire PAL region twiddles it's thumbs.

While I agree that there are plenty of mature titles on Nintendo consoles, I disagree that they 'equally cater'. Nintendo Wii is heavily slanted toward the casual game market. Not neccessarily "kiddie" but definitely more family friendly than other platforms.

Aw this games gunna suck with this toned down crap. I better still be able to strangle people with the wiimote+nunchuck... That will be the ultimate decider as to whether I buy this game.

The wiimote controls weren't the deciding factor in the AO rating. It was the generally grim theme throughout the game as opposed to throttling people with the wiimote :D
