Team Fortress 2
The Massively Multiplayer Online PVP (player versus player) game Fury hit the shelves this week, and BigPond Broadband members can get 20% off the price if they buy it on our Games Shop!

Many of you would have already found this out from participation in the pre-release beta, but Team Fortress 2 is pretty damn fun.

Due on store shelves in a couple of weeks as part of the Half-Life 2: The Orange Box package, Team Fortress 2 has already made some very good impressions - including GameArena's own Kreese. Find out what he thinks of this incredibly long-awaited (but totally worth it) title in this week's review.

As promised Activision has released a singleplayer PC demo for Call of Duty 4, giving us a chance to trial the series' first departure from the WWII setting before its release next month.

The 1.4GB download includes one mission "The Bog" from early in the game's singleplayer which includes a variety of different combat situations. Grab it right here from BigPond GameArena.

If that's not enough, Epic has also released a beta demo for Unreal Tournament 3. GameArena now has servers up and running for this one so download it now, then jump in and see what all the fuss is about.

Tony Hawk's Proving Ground
Fans of the skateboarding game now have two new titles to sink their teeth into, Activision's Tony Hawk's Proving Ground hitting Aussie retail nationwide this week.

"The latest instalment in the #1 best-selling action sports franchise delivers deeper customisation than ever before, empowering players with the freedom to define their character and story based on the choices they make, the paths they skate and the style they want. In addition, the game features a fully-loaded video editor, complete with editing tools and a visual effects suite to create epic skate videos, and a customisable skate lounge where players can skate with friends online in the ultimate, personalised pad."

Xbox 360, PS2 and Nintendo DS versions have now landed, with Wii and PS3 offerings following on October 31st. As a bonus, the Xbox 360 version of the game also includes a 5 track demo sampler of Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock - a tasty gesture to tide us over until that game's November 7th release.

SEGA has announced that the Xbox 360 version of Virtua Fighter 5 has completed development. Previously only available on the PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360 offering brings some new features, including the long-awaited online multiplayer.

Also released is a playable demo on the Xbox Live Marketplace featuring "partial access to both VS. mode, where two players can battle it out (offline), and also to Arcade mode for spectacular single player action. Both modes feature Akira, Sarah, El Blaze and Eileen as playable characters and the demo has three playable stages - "Arena" (El Blaze's stage), "Deep Mountain" (Lei-Fei's stage) and "Island" (Jeffrey's stage)."

Look out for this one on Aussie shelves before the end of the month

Assassin's Creed
You can't have a AAA title without a thematic music score and Assassins Creed looks to be no exception to that rule, Ubisoft today announcing that British Academy Award-winner Jesper Kyd has the task for the upcoming action title. "For Assassin's Creed we wanted the score to capture the gruesome atmosphere of medieval warfare but also be edgy and contemporary. Jesper not only achieved this balance but also underlined the changes in gameplay and pacing in a way that immerses the player even further into the Assassin's Creed experience." said Jade Raymond, producer of Assassin's Creed.

Best known for his work on the Hitman series of games, Kyd is also currently writing the scores for Kane & Lynch Dead Men and Unreal Tournament 3 - that's a lot of tunes.

EA has released another new trailer for the upcoming The Simpsons Game. When it was first announced a lot of people shrugged it off as another cash-in on the Springfield license but some of these trailers show certainly give off the impression that it could actually be a pretty fun game.
