Latest News And FeaturesGran Turismo has existed for 15 years. That blows my mind. I remember when my brothers and Dad played the first Gran Turismo when it was released and I remember wishing I liked boring video games so I could join in. I remember when Gran Turismo 2 came out and for all I could tell it was exactly the same as the first one - none of my business. I remember when Gran Turismo 4 came out and my family spent hours simulating 24 hour races and tweaking gear ratios, the video game equivalent of watching paint dry.
Nevertheless, I'm sure there are some of you who are freaking pumped now, and for driving game fans it's not hard to see why. Gran Turismo 6 will feature seven new tracks with a variety of new layouts and 1200 different cars to pick and choose from at launch - with new tracks and cars to become available via DLC. The new locations include the Silverstone Circuit in the UK and Australia's own Bathurst. The newly designed engine brings with it decreased loading times and advanced tesselation and GT6 will see the return of the Track Editor along with a new system designed to allow smartphones and tablets to monitor their progress and take part in community functions. Like all good announcements, Gran Turismo 6 came with its own trailer, which you can watch embedded below - it's available through Youtube however, so it is metered content. Are you excited for Gran Turismo 6? I am sure Joaby and his housemate Heath will play it, they love car games, but how about you? Let us know in the comments below! Nvidia's Project Shield was first announced backa at CES in January. A handheld gaming console, it would run Android and it featured a dual analog control pad and a touch screen running at 720p. And now Nvidia has announced the device's release is imminent, coming to the US in June with a $349 price tag.
![]() The handheld now has a proper name too - the Nvidia Shield. Along with the shocking name change Nvidia has announced the specifications of the device - it runs Android 4.2.1 on Nvidia's own Tegra 4 chipset and it has 16GB internal storage (plus a Micro-SD card slot.) It also features 802.11n Mimo WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS support and has input for both mini-HDMI and micro-USB. Nvidia also announced that Double Fine's Costume Quest and Broken Age would join the host of games already destined for the Shield like Arma Tactics, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Hamilton's Great Adventure THD. Rift was rather popular when it was first released back in 2011, but it has grown significantly less popular over time. Trion Worlds attempted to resolve this last year with Rift Lite, allowing people access up to level 20 for free, but now they've decided to go the whole hog - and as of June 12th the MMO will be available Frre To Play - although subscription options will still be available to those who want them.
Trion Worlds are keen to point out that while subscription has its perks, nothing will be off limits to those who choose to go F2P - dungeons, raids and warfronts will be available to all. Subscribing makes you a Patron, giving you boosts to things like currency, experience, mount speed and reputation - but these act as bonuses, as opposed to F2P gamers being punished. The change comes with the 2.3 update, titled Empyreal Assault - which also a new zone, raid and chronicle. Trion Worlds are also introducing a new currency - REX - which will allow players to trade Credits for cash on an exchange dictated by the player. In other words, allowing F2P players access to credits and beating down gold farmers in one punch. If you'd like to learn more you can read the F2P info page and the Producer's letter - and watch the F2P developer diary embedded below (it's a Youtube video however, so it is metered content.) Will it be enough to bring people back to Rift though, or is the lure of Neverwinter too strong? Let us know what you think in the comments below. Krieg the Psycho joins the Borderlands 2 roster today, as the second dowloadable character along with Gaige the Mechromancer. As a 'reformed' Psycho, Krieg can activate Buzz Axe Rampage mode to deal massive melee damage, with his skills doing a variety of interesting things like making enemies explode when they die, increasing the damage, radius and drop rate of grenades and transforming him into a Badass Psycho Mutant.
You can check out Krieg's skill tree right here and decide your set up - I think I'll probably go down the Hellborn tree, which gives Krieg an assortment of bonuses any time he is on fire. You can also watch Krieg's launch trailer embedded below - it's currently only available on Youtube, so it is metered, but we'll be sure to update this post once it hits the GameArena servers. In other Borderlands 2 news, during an investors call today attended by Joystiq, Take-Two's CEO Strauss Zelnick noted that the game had shipped six million units and is on its way to being the highest selling release in the history of 2K. Which is pretty impressive. Are you going to buy the Psycho Pack DLC today or are you going to wait for the release of the next mission based DLC - Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep - due on the 25th of June? Let us know in the comments below! Update: The trailer is now available in our videos library!
Borderlands 2 "Krieg the Psycho Launch" TrailerPosted: 14 May 13 | 93 views | 65.7MBFans of odd japanese pseudo-visual novels can start getting excited, because Capcom today announced that Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies is leaving Japan for the West in Autumn, which means Spring for us! In a bit of a strange turn of events however, the title is currently only promoted as being available via the eShop - physical copies have not been mentioned.
Dual Destinies brings Phoenix back to the courthouse, along with Apollo Justice and new Associate Attorney Athena Cykes. Like Phoenix and Apollo, Athena has her own special ability - via her 'Mood Matrix' she can determine how a suspect is feeling. You can watch the trailer for Dual Destinies embedded below - it's currently available via Youtube, so it is metered content, but we'll be sure to update the post once it hits our servers. Judging by the reaction to this news, it seems like a lot of people are fairly upset about the lack of a physical release. I can understand that to be honest. While I'm eager to play Dual Destinies, the Nintendo eShop is not linked to an account like the PSN or Xbox Live system, it's linked to a device - and particularly given the outrageous price of new releases I don't think I could justify buying it. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below! Update: The trailer is now available in our videos library!
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies Debut TrailerPosted: 14 May 13 | 65 views | 33.5MBWe all know how it goes - you've played The Witcher 2 as many ways through as you can think - siding with the racists, siding with the non-racists, killing Aryan La Valette, not killing Aryan La Valette and so forth. You've played all of the additional content CD Projekt Red released during updates and you have even finished the game on Dark Mode and Insane with saves all ready and waiting for the release of The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt in 2014. What do you do now?
You could check out the Complete Equipment Overhaul mod, which tweaks almost every piece of equipment in the game, or mess around with the variety of (mostly cosmetic) equipment mods, or you can wait until later tonight/tomorrow - and make some new adventures with CD Projekt Red's Redkit! Some of you might have even nabbed the Redkit already - it accidentally went up ahead of schedule on Saturday - but if not there isn't long to wait now. The Redkit will allow you to modify everything from terrain to lighting, camera choice to NPCs and, naturally, variable scripts and non-linear quests. In the meantime you can watch the trailer for the Redkit beta embedded below or in our videos library - going full screen for HD of course. I hope someone does a TC importing the first game into the newer engine, I might finally be able to convince my friends to play it then. What would you like to see in a Witcher 2 mod? The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition "RedKit Beta" TrailerPosted: 11 May 13 | 153 views | 22.7MBDamn it, Watch Dogs can not come out soon enough. November 21st, the game's release date for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, is still ages away and every time I see something new on it I just want to play it already.
This latest video comes courtesy of GamesHQMedia and it makes me even more eager to play Watch Dogs than usual - it's all gameplay footage. We see main character Aiden as he infiltrates a compound, spies on random individuals throughout the city, visits shops and escapes the police - all with the help of his handy hacking abilities. The video is currently only available on Youtube, so it is metered content, but it is definitely worth checking out embedded below. As you can see there are a couple of things that look like they still could do with a tweak (and it's not one long continuous shot, so there is more we aren't seeing) but at this stage Watch Dogs is looking pretty neat. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below. A double shot of the GA Podcast this week, after some delays last week.
