In order to provide the best gaming experience possible, GameArena maintains some voice communications solutions which allow users to communicate over the Internet by simply chatting. This service is available to all GameArena members - all you need is a microphone and the client software to connect to our servers.

At this point in time, GameArena is running two separate services - TeamSpeak and Ventrilo, both popular, high quality systems for voice communications.

These services are largely unsupported, due to the range of complex issues that can occur. However, both systems have active communities and support channels via their official website. The GameArena GameOp team are also on hand to provide help and assistance, including channel registration services.

Please note that use of these services is governed by the GameArena Terms and Conditions. Abuse of other users and abuse of this service will not be tolerated and may result in you being removed from the GameArena service entirely.

Also note you will need to be running The Arena software to allow access to the GameArena Teamspeak and Ventrilo services.

Ventrilo

Overview:

Ventrilo is a relatively new entry into the voice communications market. While the software is not as feature-packed as TeamSpeak, it is simple to use and boasts extremely high quality sound with minimal bandwidth usage.

Connection information:

GameArena is currently running the following Ventrilo servers.

Note: the above 'connect' links will only work if you have Ventrilo installed already!

To connect, simply load the software and click the arrow beside the 'Server' box. Click 'New', and type in 'GameArena Ventrilo' for the name (or any other descriptive field you would like. Add the connection address into the Hostname/IP field. The port number is the default. Click 'OK' to save the changes, then you can click 'Connect' to join the server.

TeamSpeak

Overview:

TeamSpeak is a very popular system amongst gamers due to its flexibility and powerful software. You can download the client software locally from GameArena and join to the server directly.

Connection information:

GameArena is currently running one TeamSpeak server.

Note: the above 'connect' links will only work if you have TeamSpeak installed already!

To connect, simply enter a nickname and make sure you have the 'anonymous' option checked.

Details:

Registered nicknames are not currently allowed.

If you want a channel setup permanently find out if a GameOp is available, and if so setup your channel with:

• Topic
• Decent description
• Prefered Non-Default codec
• A LINK to your GameArena Clan page
• Password
• Required Sub-Channels

...then nicely ask a TeamSpeak GameOp in COGS Chat to come approve and register the channel for you.

You will need to remain in the channel until it is registered or the channel will be deleted when you leave it.

Please note: Only channels for GameArena teams will be registered. Users can still make temporary channels, but they'll be deleted automatically when you have left the channel.
