Trying to get to play the game. Managed to get it installed with the Physx problem.

Now my problem is when I start it I get up to the EA cutscene and my computer turns off like I had turned it off at the wall.

I vaguely recall when I tried the demo I had the same problem, and I had to put the game into safe mode or something with the command switches in the shortcut, but I cant remember. This allowed me to get into the ingame menu and disable the SLI.

Not sure if that was right, but I cant really remember.

Please help, it's frustrating trying all different options and having it dump out on me every time.....

When you say turns off do you mean it restarts itself?

No, as in off.
No BSOD.
No restart.
Just Hard Off.

I'm thinking it is the PSU.

I am running an MSI N9600GT T2D512.
PSU is a Antec SP500 - 500w.

MSI recommend a 400w PSU with 24A.
The Antec has split rails of 17A & 19A.

I'm a bit confused, but that is all I can think.

I have had some other probs when some things access the graphics GPU, such as same power off prob, when accessing the performance tab inthe Nvidia Control Panel.

Well I think you have answered your own question. Have you checked your event logs for any errors? You might want to post this over in "Tech and Hardware" to confirm but I'd assume they will tell you to upgrade your PSU. Can you borrow one from someone else to confirm? (To keep your costs down)

BTW if its only this game then you'd be better off taking it back for a refund than going through all this trouble for a sub par game with only six levels.

Only paid \$9 at HN.
Got Command & Conquer:Tiberium Wars, at the same time, same price.
Also having problems with that one.

Definately something going wrong with the computer, so it just depends if I can afford, or bother chasing the culprit....

Well if its more than one game you might want to go round the usual route. I'd update my motherboard BIOS and other drivers.

Sorry I'm more experienced in software than hardware so I still recommend posting in "Tech and Hardware" there are some pretty good techs in there.

I just got the game. What is the PhisX problem because i think im having it to. For fear of been flamed if i start another thread on this topic which may have been answerd a number of times ill just ask it here.

When I try and install this game on Vista it just doesnt work. I type in the serial no. and it go to the screen "preparing to install" and then a blank dos box appears and then nothing happens. It crashes just after it comes up with something to do with PhysX. So i tryed to install it on XP and I get to the same stage but a error bo appears saying

Error 1311. Sorce file not found.
C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\IXP000.TMP\vcredis1.cab
Verify the file exists and that you can acces it.

So i went to the folder IXP000.TMP and it was empty(and yes I can see hidden files and system files). Any suggestions on what the problem is and how to fix it. I would prefer to run it on vista.
Im running 32bit vista. Quad core 2.4GHz, 4gig ram, 9800gt.

Cheers

The PhysX problem is that if PhysX exists already, then the installer will crash.

You have to uninstall either the Nvidia PhysX or Aegis PhysX. The difference is the version already installed.

Once you do that, install the game.
If you want, after that reinstall the Nvidia Drivers, and that will upgrade the PhysX driver.

BTW im still waiting on my PSU from PCCaseGear.....damn new years break..
