A new dedicated server package was released yesterday that doesn't require the game to be installed which is pretty good news in terms of the possibility of GA servers for the game.

There's a whole writeup about it on the official EA forum for the game so things are slowly being fixed. I'll see if it's possible to get a couple of servers organised GA wise, seems like it'll be ok.

Yeah I've sent all the relevant info and a config to Fuzzy, he didn't have time today but it should get done tomorrow. NFI about how many servers to expect etc. Max player count is still 12 until the next client patch.

I think 1 would be enough...might get it 1/2 full :)....after formatting I'm not wasting 8 gig downloading it again...8 gig...how'd they bloat such a short game...

I've been on Fuzzy's case every day since I've posted this. Things soudned hopeful today as it was next in line after the support jobs from the weekend. I go to work so I can't sit in The Arena chat constantly asking about it. I've only just gotten home now to discover it didn't happen today, I'll ask again tomorrow, then the day after, then the day after and so on and so forth until all is completed.

Nah nothing new, I've been on holiday for over a week and the job hasn't been touched. I'll keep pushing the issue next week to get at least one server up.

Hey Shadow. Yeah I know. Still there isn’t much else around to play that I like. I’m so over large community games. I guess I just don’t see the point in punish systems or stats systems of some games. Maybe I just miss the old Spearhead days when people played as friends. It didn’t matter who was winning as we where having fun instead.

I know GA have to cater to the masses the most and the Admin’s are always uber busy but I’m hoping they may have had some involvement in small community gaming in their time that they’ll give us a go. You’ve got to admit they looked after us pretty well when there was only twenty of us playing SH.

That's a bit harsh, yeah they farked up bigtime by releasing such a joke of an unfinished MP side of things but it's slowly improving and the next patch should make things even better.

I'm with Sloth on this one that there's not much else to play at the moment that interests me, I love the WWII shooters but COD never quite hit the spot like MOH:AA did. I'll keep trying to get some loving for a GA server regardless

No it's not, ea always release half finished stuff, then their support is lacking as always.

Not many games around you can play for fun, this may have been if it wasn't so buggy.

Who knows, if it was done right it may have become MOHAA2, but most are over it already.

1. I have a job outside of voluntary GA duties

2. It's not just an issue of it being ignored by the admins. Thanks to the release of a bunch of hyped-up games such as TF2, COD4 and UT3 that require masses of slots to fill demand, there's a real tight amount of server resources available at the moment. I spoke to Fuzzy the other day and he thought he may have found a machine to put MOH:A on.

I'll do what I've been doing all along which is enquiring about the progress of the job whenever I'm online on a weekday and Fuzzy is around.

Agreed, I thought it had potential initially but EA farked it up with the multiplayer. COD4 is a way better example of how to implement MP games, I love WW2 shooters but COD4 has me hooked.

It seems to me that there is still a vast amount of MOHAA players in Aust, this community might move onto Airborne after 1.3 Patch which will include the classic OBJ Mode. But still Im fighting for a server from GA :D

Latest news is that we've got to wait until the COD4 competition is over (this week) whereupon enough server resources will be freed up to get MOH:A going. As the new patch with 24 player support among other things, is supposedly coming this week. I've just got to see how it goes installing with the dedicated server and edit configs if needed.

Thanks for the update Landers. You never know Shadow, you might enjoy MOH:A? Even though its made by EA. I was thinking of having EA tattooed to my ****. I'd get to **** on them twice a day for the rest of my life. Well aparently only once a day when I get older, if I'm lucky I'm told.

Positive thinking!

I'm actually starting to have a little faith on MOH:A multiplayer with the sounds of the next patches that are lined up. Finally a decent player count, 2 new maps and other tweaks in this patch then OBJ mode in the next patch. The global player count dwindles now but if they get the patches right, MOHAA junkies will be able to grab a copy of the game from the EB Games bargain bin and get some new age MOHAA action on. There are also petitions going on in the official forums for the devs to remake The Bridge and V2 Rocket which would be absolutely cracking if something came out of it.

Not from my 2 local stores.
Their policy allows for a 7 day refund, no questions asked.
This game had that many returns those 2 stores removed it from sale, and no longer stock it.
As I said, if they released the full game without relying on on-going patching they may have had a winner.
You think that they would have learnt after Pacific Assault failed.

SHadOW, you can keep bashing the game relentlessly or you could move on? Not much is going to come out of continuing to talk down the developers. The original product sucked, yes, we all know this. The patches are actually fixing that so play it if you want to else leave it alone completely.

I find it quite fun and so do a fair few others I know which is why I'm pushing to get even just one GA server. The upcoming patches have actually got potential now they've finally started to keep the community constantly updated of changes.

I started that petition :P

but yeah, Matt said that the patch should be released today or tomorow :D

Quote from Matt Pruit

"My update has been posted regarding the patch -- it will be released today. Visit my update post for more info. "

"Today Update 1.2 passed through all of our internal certification check points and was officially given approval for release. We are in the process of getting the update ready for the public. Update 1.2 will be available for all to download later today, Thursday, December 13th.

Thank you all for you patience and feedback.

I won't leave it alone, I am entitled to my opinion as are others.

If you think that I am the only one who think very little of ea, then think again Mike.

This is WHC shadow??

and plus, why would you rant about the game, for me and some of my SH mates it doesnt seem too much of a loss, we still make our own server and everyone joins in everynow and then.

Plus i doubt the games community is dead, there is still a vast amount of MOHAA players like Landers said, that would gladly once im guessing 1.3 patch came out would start to play it.

The feedback from EA has dramatically improved with new update/s every day, which still is going on even though some people thought it wouldnt.

So before you can say that the game is dead, aint playable and the community wont support it, then, think again becasue right now, im seeing EA do a fantastic job with customer support, i see many people from here and from the MOHAA:SH community play this and also a new patch comming today, now if that isnt enough to satisfy you SHadOW then i dont know what is.

Thats my 2 cents

The admins don't work over the chrissy/new year period, they should be back soon and when they are I'll start hassling Fuzzy again for you.

mmm if you have to hassle him then don't bother mate. If he's not willing to sacrifice one of 50+ servers (over all the games) that are always empty, then don't worry about it.

If he wanted to do it, he would have by now.

I've kept asking, he's told me he'll get to it but I can't say for sure whether that'll happen or not.

It's not so much resources now, it's more the new year's here and the big releases like COD4 and ETQW are demanding ladders.

I didnt mind the single player mission, but a dedicated ga server would be nice to play with others on.
