I should've known it'd be released on a Saturday. What that means for us is that it's highly unlikely to get any GA loving until Monday, no file mirrors nor servers.

The best I can do is set it all up, log a job and leave it for an Admin to deal with on Monday.

Oh and as the dedicated server software requires the game to be fully installed and an EA account to be made, it mightn't be an instant process either.

I have to agree here, I've been looking into it, the dedicated server is a joke. It requires a full install of the game on the host machine. This cannot be done as the installer won't allow the process to complete unless it detects a compatible video card, which most server machines, including GA's, don't have. The only alternative is to upload onto the server a MOH:A directory from a normal machine that has succesfully had the game installed, that's at least 8 gigabytes to upload which is a painful and unrewarding task for any admin to be asked.

Add to our list of woes the actual dedicated server software. It's anal enough that if you put your server config ini file somewhere custom that it doesn't agree with or it doesn't like what you've named it, it won't be able to log into the EA master server and the server won't be started. Then there is the matter of the port/IP the server uses. Most games allow you to manually set the desired port/IP you want the server to start up on, this is especially useful in respect to running multiple game servers off the one box as it allows you to avoid conflicting ports and rooting multiple game servers. MOH:A doesn't allow you to manually set the IP or the port to be used, it decides itself what port it's going to use. This also bums out the slightest chance of a gamecreate service or a ladder for this games as it would be a pain in the behind to even try get the gamecreate software to allocate bookings without being able to assign a known port for each one.

Then there's the fact that once you get a server up, it's near impossible to find it in the current in-game server list. There are soooo many random servers up at the moment it's pretty scary. The patch has also made the list jump/freeze/return to the top every few seconds as well, so as you frantically click down to try see what servers there are, it'll suddenly jump you back up the top again like it's constantly refreshing the list. To make matters worse, very few servers actually display their correct ping time so sorting the list by ping time isn't even useful as you'll just have a screen full of servers with a ping of 0 or ???

To be honest, there's probably little chance of GA servers in light of these issues, especially the random net port/IP assignment. I'll talk to Fuzzy about it when I've got time but don't hold your breath on this one.

Thanks for trying landers, hope you can work something out with a GA server. I just bought this game thinking that on the standard of BF2 the game should be pretty good in multiplayer. I can't understand how they can develop a game like BF2 and not learn from the problems with that game, only to repeat them and actually go backwards with MOHA.

Nah man, there's not going to be any GA servers until they give us at least some way of manually setting a net IP and port for the server. Until that can be done, it's not compatible with the GameCreate software that GA uses to manage its servers.

There have been a torrent of complaints about this on the official EA forums for MOHA so one would hope another patch is on the way to addressing this issue and the other issues that plague the current dedicated server version.

You think they would have learnt from past releases that without this stuff on release, or quickly there after their product will flop.

It's dumbfounding that they continue to do their work like this. Makes you wonder which team of monkeys is working on this thing.

To have asked \$90 for basically a single player game without a proper usable multiplayer, that was promised, is so wrong that most of us should of returned it and demanded our money back. Its the only thing that would of probably got their attention.

So much for a game to tie us over till Crysis and COD 4 hey? :(

Hmmmmmm I see a few old Spearhead players in here, are we all ex Spearhead playeres? looks like we have been waiting for a long time for this game to come out. I call it SPEARHEAD ON ROIDS lol, I know it has a few issues but I hope Airborne is going to be like the good ol'e days of spearhead. Myself and Dogass are looking for keen players on a regular server so when that happens, I hope all the good ol'e days come back with this game.

The community rep for MOHA is being pretty tight-lipped after the harsh feedback about the asshat piece of software they claim is a dedicated server. He did mention one of the big things they plan to address is the lack of a manually assignable IP/port that is crucial for game server providers like GameArena if they want to provide MOH:A servers. If this is the case, then maybe there'll be a chance for a MOH:A server on GA eventually. The main obstacle after this IP/Port business is the need to upload a patched install directory to the server before the dedicated server will run (kind of stupid to offer dedicated server software separately when you need to install the entire game anyway). In terms of GA, there are two issues with this. One is that someone has to spend the time installing, patching and uploading the game directory (8.5gb isn't exactly tiny). The other is that by using this option, future patches won't detect a 'valid' install of the game on the server, this would mean someone would have to patch the game on their machine and upload every updated file to the server before the server can be called 'patched'. This entire situation is seriously, seriously stuffed in general.

ditto for cod4....and may the fleas from a thousand camels infest the butt cheeks of the bone head who developed the multiplayer UNdedicated servers for MOHA.

Having had the misfortune of playing a few recent ea games, it doesnt surprise me at their total lack of anything intelligent when it comes to releasing new games.

I have no doubt that after a lot of wasting everyone elses time, they might come up with a working solution - and i stress the word might here - but as was mentioned earlier, looks like if you bought it, you spent \$90 on a single player game.

gg ea, yet another massive **** up for you to record against your already pathetic reputation.

gl to any sucker that buys this p.o.s, cos that is exactly how ea will look at you.

I swore off them after the last game i bought (admittedly, i ony paid \$20 for 2142, got it off a mate that didnt like it) but still i will not buy anything related to them ever again.

While there are lots of ppl in the same boat as me (pun intended) ea dont seem to get the hint, and keep on producing unfinished, buggy and user unfriendly games. I guess as long as they think they can make money, and as long as ppl keep buying their games, they win in the end.

gl with gettin git up and running though Landers. I dont envy you your workload on this one.

All they got to do is sell 1 million copies world wide, and that would be easily done.

An easy \$100 million dollars.
