It has been a bit of an issue lately finding an available server for pug/scrim/clan matches.
So, the aim of this post is to try to get either a regular player admin rights to either of the available public servers (both servers are never populated at the same time) or the ability to book a server through the GameArena system.
This would provide backing for the already great community and would only ensure that this game has a stable future.

Second'd. We definately need to start a regular pug/scrim scene as soon as possible. A game as heavily team oriented as dystopia needs more organised matches.

I couldn't agree more with your agrument
Maybe this could be tied in with DGL (The Dystopia Global League http://dystopia-league.com/) which is starting to get off the ground.

Sounds good to me
If there is hesitance about dedicating a server to scrims, perhaps we could organise to have scrims at 22:00 on weeknights, 1 match, teams are rostered or whatever. The games are 40 minutes max, so that's ~1.8% of the time the server is up (although it's pretty prime). That shouldn't put people out especially if it's regular.
That may be a consideration after the next release of dys, the servers will probably become much more busy.

Dystopia really does have a lack of Bookable servers. Realisticly clans are left to finding an empty public server, knowing important people or using an overseas server.
Seeing as most of these options result in a laggy or unfair game it would be incredibly usefull to have an Australian bookable server, specifically a GameArena server (being commonly the most reliable and having the lowest ping).
Not only do I post this from the perspective of a community member, but also as a previous clan leader, clan member and regular gamer.
I also back up Rocky on his interest in a regular gamer achieving admin rights. As often enough servers with no admin around get abused.
Further, admin rights would help the mapping community, but as I am not an avid mapper I'm not exactly sure on their general opinion.

Yes please… I would love to see a bookable server available for dystopia. At the moment we are forced to contact a optus admin who has to actually make a server on the spot for us to prac. If that’s not available we have to use the dystopia development testing server just to play a scrim. All this effort just for the clan scene to survive. There should be a much easier way.

How can you not say yes now GA after all these lovely people have so eagerly requested a bookable server? etc.

*raises hand*
Count me in. A bookable server would be fantastic and - as mentioned above - at the moment there's always at least one empty GA server. If later on the need/pressure grow and the bookings need to be limited to certain hours (as also suggested up there somewhere) to make things fair for all, so be it. At the moment however giving folks more ability to play both organized scrims and PUGs seems to have no big downside and the real likelihood of pushing the community onward and upward.

As a representative of Austopia I definitely back up this proposal. We're planning clan matches, competitions and ladders once more Australian clans form, but its next to impossible for us to get a server to organise these matches.

As some of you may be aware, I've landed myself a job working as an admin at GameArena. This means I have control over the Dystopia servers! You may have noticed that I've already added dys_fortress_v2 to the #2 server, and I'm now working on setting up a bookable GameCreate server.
No time frame on this atm, as I'm having to juggle around resources to make this happen. Stay tuned though.....

It is done!
You can now select Half Life 2: Dystopia from the server booking list. These bookable servers have dys_fortress_v2 installed too!

Is anyone still playing this at the moment? I realise i am checking rather late at night, but i'm looking at getting a little into Dystopia and realised tonight that the servers are dead =\
Also, i know this is an old thread, =P

People still do play, Australian servers are populated now and then. Quite often the way a game starts in by asking in the irc channel (irc.ausirc.net #dystopia). There has been massive growth of the community every time there is a release and with the next release planned being version 1 (5 new maps, new weapons, implants and numerous other additions) i think the crowd will stick around.
However, in the mean time, one of the great things about Dystopia (and source for that matter) is the hit and movement compensation, which makes it very possible to play on servers with 300-400 ping without many issues.

had to resurrect this sorry....but for good reasons
Dystopia 1.2 is out and it is dystopia as you have never seen or experienced it before. All the maps have been redone, the game itself looks prettier (it is the most graphic intensive mod i've yet played) 180 bugs fixed etc etc
What's more there are players on every night and GA has provided 3 great servers @ 144.140.154.115:27015, 144.140.154.81:27115 and 144.140.154.115:27215.
For some of you who did try the game for the first time a few days ago but now cannot see servers or get kicked after 1 min of play: http://www.dystopia-game.com/forum/view ... =9&t=17416
the hotfix in the above link is tiny and easy to install
see u on the servers

A new thread could have easily been made, but the point still stands that clients need to apply that workaround to be able to see the Dystopia servers - which seem to kick themselves off (player wise) these days since we've fixed the stability issues.

Fuzzy or any other Admin.
I play Dyst often on the GA servers now. Because dyst is a bit less popular these days we get a lot of foreign players on board. This is all cool cool but lately there have been a few of them constantly killing the match by spawn tking, and a few of them join at once to votekick won't work. Is anyone contactable to get these ppl banned from the server??
