I thought I'd write up a general FAQ for Day of Defeat source considering a lot of guys are asking the same kinda questions. So here goes, as the game gets larger, more information will be added for the game itself. But for now the contents;

1.How do I purchase DoD:S?
Currently DoD:S is available to anyone who purchased the Silver or Gold packages on the Valve steam client. Anyone who purchased the bronze or any retail version of HL2 do not have access to DoD:S. Alternatively, if you have a credit card, you can purchase DoD:S on its own through Steam.
There is now a retail boxset where you can purchase dod:s on its own or in the HL2 Platinum package.


2.I'm having FPS problems, is there anyway to get my frames up?
There are some commands that will give you better performance, obviously this is at the sacrifice of some of the details ingame. Here are a list of a few. They need to be added into your config.cfg file which is located : Steam\SteamApps\email\day of defeat source\dod\cfg .

3.Are there going to be more maps ?
Yes, most definately, the DoD Developement team are going to work on regular updates which will result in the addition of maps along the way. Since release the following maps have been added:

- dod_argentan
- dod_kalt
- dod_colmar
- dod_jagd
- dod_palermo


4. What is currently in development?
At the moment the following items are in dev:

just a question, iv added those commands to my config file however it seems to reset itself every time Steam restarts. Is there anyway to enable to 'save' itself so that when steam starts the commands are also up to date?

desert try setting your config to read only... no idea if thatll work but it should

didnt work Blacky, it still resets the config to default. ALso the following options seem to reset itself too:

- Crosshair, both the size and type
- Shadow Detail, from Low to High
- and more specifically the following commands as listed by HBJ:

mat_fastnobump1
mat_picmip 2
mat_specular 0
mat_trilinear 0
r_cheapwaterend 1
r_cheapwaterstart 1
r_decal_cullsize 2
r_drawdetailprops 0
r_drawmodeldecals 0
r_dynamic 0

the rest work fine but those listed above need to be retyped whenever Steam restarts.

Try creating an autoexec.cfg in your config folder and then put the commands you always want to execute everytime you play dod. That should work.

userconfig.cfg goes into "\day of defeat source\dod\cfg"

and you will need to edit "\day of defeat source\dod\cfg\valve.rc" so that at the end it says
Code:
exec "userconfig.cfg"

That will run the config at load of map and not change and settings.

I have a question regarding DOD:S server bookings. I have the cal dod:s config in my cfg folder and I have binded it to run on pushing F8. Here is the config;

I put in rcon PW, run cfg and I dont get any message saying "match will start when both teams type 'ready' ", doesnt seem to do stuff all really. When I put in console seperatly mp_clan_ready_signal "ready"

You need to have mp_clan_match 1 in that config, otherwise your clan cvars wont execute.

Do This....


Right click on the dods icon in the Steam games list.

Select "Properties"

Select "Set launch options..."

Type in... -novid

Press OK.

Heres a good one

Why all of a sudden do my voice commands sound like chipmonks??? nothing has changed this end, just one day it was normal, next its all freaked out!

Only happens in dod:s and just voice commands and mic chat, end of round music is still ok

any thoughts?? have latest audio driver too

Hi fellas I'm from the NO WAY clan and I wasn't sure where to go or who to ask so I'll post the questions here.

Our clan won a war recently (19/11/06) against DIC. We basically destroyed them. We won 5 rounds in the first half and 7 rounds in the second half. They only managed to win 1 in the second half. I took screenshot at the end of both the first and second half.

First question is where are the screenshots saved?

I tried to record a demo as well but I tink I did it wrong. I went to console and typed "record" and thats it. At the end I typed stop.

2nd question is if my demo was successful where is it saved?

I couldn't find either of these so I asked a memeber of DIC for the final score. They said 37-379. That being 37(DIC)-379(NO WAY). So I agreed and placed the scores in. Now here is the problem. I put in the NO WAY box 37-379 and clicked submit. Now the results showed NO WAY scored only 37 points and on the rankings it says we forfeited. After looking back I realised I was probably suppose to put 37 in DIC's box and 379 in ours.

My final question is how do I change the wrong results I had placed earlier?

1. C:/Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/your account name/day of defeat source/dod/screenshots.

2. You have to specify a name for the demo in order for it to be correct. For example type 'record nwvsdic' in the console and the file name would be nwvsdic. I don't think demo's with no names are saved.

Demo's are automatically saved in C:/Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/your account name/day of defeat source/dod. To easily view a demo file open Dod:s and press shift+F2... it's pretty straightforward from there.

has anyone had the problem of a transparent xhair? i started using dot a while ago. a few days later it and many other xhairs turned transparent so i can barely see them. does anyone know how to fix this?

There is a setting in the menu where you set the xhair for transparency have a look there, I'm not sure of the actual command.
