After a long hiatus, the GameArena Counter Strike: Source ladder is being prepared to re-open.

A new and simpler set of rules will be put into place shortly, with the ladder focusing on having fun rather than on a professional style of competition.

Disputes should hopefully be resolved quickly and decisively, with what we deem to be frivolous disputes dealt with severely so the competition isn't held up unnecessarily.

We encourage all enrolled teams to start having some practice games while the ladder is in Freeplay mode.

Expect an announcement over the coming month with more updates on the progress of the ladder re-opening for a full season of regulation play.

We have some really awesome and powerful, brand spankin' new servers which most of the ladder matches will be held on.

I know it's been a long time coming, but it should shape up to be a fun season once we have everything sorted out.

Just to be extra super clear on this - the ladder previously had a _lot_ of silly disputes, so rules got stricter and stricter and ended up being a bit of a joke how draconian they became(imo). Stupid disputes; that means disputes lodged over things that would have made no difference to the outcome of the game, will result in the stupidly disputing team getting forfeited for wasting everyone's time.

So - if something happened, but it would have made no difference to who won or lost, dispute at your own team's peril.
Two forfeits in a month will see your team dropped to the bottom of the ladder. Three forfeits in a month and your team automatically gets deleted.

Update:
We've nearly finished with the new set of rules and the new servers are all ready to go.

We've decided to use warmod for this ladder.

We'll be sending out an email which will be requiring teams to activate their teams if they intend to play this ladder season.

Any teams that are not activated will be deleted when the ladder goes live in two to three weeks.

All win/loss records are going to be reset, since the first season never finished, and we're starting it again from the beginning.

There will be no seeding. Teams ranks will start from where they are now.

That's awesome news!. So now, What do I need to do to unlink my steamid from my old account?.

I get this message when I try to enter my steam:

"The ID you entered is already in use by another account. It has not been saved to your account."

PS. Obviously I can not remember the old account details and it has an old email address which I can't get to for password retrival.

So why bother deleting the history if its not relevant to anything? If teams do not like their history then can delete themselves and start again. Hell teams do it all the time when they go negative.

I doubt any of the stable clans who have played 50+ matches will be happy with all their history being deleted.

CG always resets their history (to a certain extent as W/L ratios arent kept) every season, GS resets their history every season. heck you dont see cevo keep a record after every season.

but mainly my sarcastic quote is my reasoning behind resetting the W/L ratios.

also freewheelin, will there be finals for future CS:S seasons now? and is it possible to change it so that instead of "set" it shows the player's steam ID like before? so this can prevent teams from using 'sluts'.

There should be some system that if a challenged is not accepted the team that didnt accept should lose there standing/place, this sucks you have to wait days for them to view challenge accept/reject, and for nuthin?

At the moment it seems get to a certain rank and just not accept a challenge and your the better off for it?

The ladder is in freeplay, rankings don't change.

Normally if a team doesn't accept a match the challenger takes their place.

would like some confirmation whether steam IDs will be publically shown to prevent non-registered players playing in matches.

A new game has been released and as such all resources has been used on that, css ladder postponed for another 3 years shoe ...

Think most of the css gameops have given up waiting for the ladder to get and running again, after all the effort whisper and desolate, mashy and others put into trying to get it fixed but was hindered by the lack of support they recieved from the admins .

whisper tried to get the back end working, but epic non help.

Main issue was and is source tv for us - just doesn't work with the back end

anyway, freewheelin is on to it and has put in a few new ops - i'm sure they'll get to this one day

source is far from dead! sure pro maybe... but all competitive gaming is dying in aus there is no support, like heck my mate who was in COD IM team just cbfed to go 2 lans anymore cos it wasnt worth the drive anymore

so what date is the ladder going to go live my teams been on the lader for almost a year and a half and only played like 3 real matches its getting rather boring now waiting for this ladder to start

why do you say its the only legit ladder? the GA ladder was renownd for hacking clans and its been inactive for years, how is it legit? because its bigpond?

CGo is a fantastic open ladder and you will at least get a game every week, most clans start of there then move to cevo.

And what about Cevo i guess thats not legit
